I'm 71 and this is the first time in my life I've ever heard anyone comment about the sound of a person eating sweet corn on the cob! No, I don't find it "nasty" and I wouldn't think of cutting the kernals off to avoid the "noise"! LOL!

@Pooky1  When we were young, we called it the typewriter! We would compete for speed and sound! I think my parents figured if we were all doing it, it was ok. I can see if you were the only one at table chomping on a cob, that could be a problem. From mid-July to the end of September, my DH nukes a couple of ears for each meal every day. I can't afford to have a problem with the sound. Hahahaha!

I’m older than you, & I’ve never heard that!  If you want corn on cob, then that’s how you eat it!

I remember when we were kids, we'd have the fresh corn at supper.  Never noticed the noise, or didn'y much care.  We'd race to see who got each row done the fastest!  I also remember we'd suck the juice out of the cob - the best part!  That was a fun time!!

I cut the kernels off the cob now 'cause I don't like anything getting stuck between my teeth.  Not as much fun being an adult - miss the juice from the cob!

This is my favorite food in the whole world. I am never sitting and listening I am eating too. Love, love, love. I'd say ,Yes your the only one. I have never found myself listen to how people sound when they eat. My biggest regret in life is when Fall comes and I can't find my 'corn on the cob'.

And I'm probably older than you, 85, and this is all strange to me. Who sits and listens to the sound of people eating corn on the cob?
