just received my pressure cooker and I'm confused!! the manual says not to cook macaroni in it because the foam will clog the cooker, but david's recipe for pressure cooker mac & cheese says to cook the macaroni in the cooker! who's right?

I can't think of a reason to cook macaroni in a pressure cooker, since it (dry pasta) will cook in like 9 minutes on the stove in a pot with water.
But I can see how maybe that starchy foam that comes off of pasta or potatoes could clog up the works.
I'm wondering if maybe the manual is specifically referring to cooking ONLY macaroni/pasta in the pressure cooker, as opposed to putting it in there with other ingredients that would dissipate the starchy foam. That's the vibe I get, FWIW. ![]()

You need to add a little fat to the mac and water, like olive oil or butter. Same with rice and beans too. Just a tablespoon is all you need. I cook these things all the time in my p/c with great success. Pasta comes out beautiful as does the rice and bean. Beats waiting for the water to boil on the stove top.
