I love Vita mix for so many reasons. I had one about 20 years ago that lasted a very long time and when I needed it the cs was beyond compare. I do not recall it being hard to clean at all.

I purchased one about 2 years ago and still appreciate the brand. With this one though it seems like I have to spend a very long time and a lot of effort to clean completely at the base of the blade. I run water and dish soap in it and run for a long time , then use a brush, then spurtle . It seems to take as long to clean as it takes to make the recipe. This is especially true with peanut butter, vegan cheese etc.It is frustrating. I have the 7 cup KA food processor ordered as I notice it comes apart at the blade.

I was curious if anyone had any hints for cleaning the Vita Mix ?

I have a Vita Mix from 20 yrs ago so I don't know if this applies to your mode lbut I place the blender container in top shelf of dishwasher. Air dry .The blade is  still inside so I don't disassemble any further .

I put a little dish soap in it with hot water and run it for several seconds.  Take it off and rinse well with hot water.  Super easy.

I normally use my VitaMix for veggies, but I agree that even using the 'wash' cycle with dish soap, sticky things like peanut butter are harder to get the blades completely clean.  I run a couple of clean cycles, then complete the washing of the blades by hand.

@vcvc VitaMix containers are NOT dishwasher safe!  This is copied from the owner's manual:

Lid, Lid Cap and Tamper

Separate the lid and lid cap. Wash parts in warm, soapy water. Rinse clean under
running water and dry. Reassemble before use.

IMPORTANT: To ensure continued and effective performance, do not put the
container, lid, lid cap or tamper in the dishwasher.

I don't seem to have a problem cleaning my Vita Mix.  I do as recommended.  Place a small amount of dishsoap in with hot water. Run it for about a minute or two.  Rinse with clean hot water.  Have made all sorts of sauces, butters, creams. Not a problem cleaning.  Mine is also an older model. 20+ years.

thanks to all who replied. I am happy to all who do not have a problem, but am wondering if the 'run water and dish soap ' thing works when making nut butters etc.

I watched a demo with the rep and I believe DV the other day and the rep did mention after making peanut butter one may need to do the wash  cycle for maybe 6 minutes. I may try that.
