Three-Ounce Cake Mix “Upsizer” Adapted from the Better Homes & Gardens New Cook Book white and yellow cake recipes: 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour 1 cup sugar 2 teaspoons baking powder 1/4 teaspoon baking soda Whisk all dry ingredients together and store in a clean mason jar. When you wish to increase a 15.25 ounce cake mix to 18.25 ounces, add three ounces of this mix (6 tablespoons) to your existing cake mix. ** from jillcataldo.com I have a older cake mix doctor cookbook, this recipe works great.

I'm glad you found a solution to the shrinking cake mixes dilemma, and it was thoughtful of you to share it.

I can't help thinking, how sad is it that people have to come up with fixes for mixes that they've already paid good money for?

But good on you OP for finding a solution.

I have all the Cake Mix Doctor books and I either buy an extra box to stretch and freeze what I don't  use or use those little Martha White mixes if I don't plan to make another one anytime soon.

@YouGoGirl1  When I first read about the cake upsizer here, I made a batch for me, and a batch for my mom.  We both LOVE it, and have had great success with it.  My mom was very grateful, as she's a bigger baker than I am.  I'm not aware of how this cookbook is laid out, but if its recipes would allow (and I don't know why they wouldn't), I would totally try the upsizer.  I. too, have a Cake Mix Doctor cookbook.  :-)

Do any brands still sell the larger size mixes?  They would get my business.

@mollymaggie   What is the name of the cookbook?   And who is the author?   I looked on amazon and only found "the Ultimate Cake Mix and Cookie"  cookbook.

Auntg, Since the cake mixes companies have decreased the cake mixes, I found

a recipe that works great, it's posted above.
