Go on Amazon.com and read the reviews of all the various bread makers. I just bought one and that's what I did.

Re: anyone own the Chris Freytag bread maker

I am on my second Breadman in 30 years, they get consistently good reviews. The West Bend models that were similar or the same model without the name, had mixed reviews. My current Breadman was purchased in 2001 and is still like new including the non-stick on the bread pan and paddle (no bubbling or peeling), I even dropped it once and all that happened was a little chip/crack still works like new. I think your best bet, since you are already experienced at using a bread maker, think about the functions/settings you like and use and what size bread you make and go with what suits your needs. I would be would be interested in knowing which one you end up and what you think after you used it a while.

Re: anyone own the Chris Freytag bread maker

ty all for the responses. There are no reviews of the product so I take that it wasn't a big seller and I am taking in to consideration Alsee's comment as sometimes if one product is inferior others could be also. I like first of all the brand I mentioned is in redSmiley Happy --I know that would be a dumb reason to buy one. It also looks like it would take up less room but still makes 1-2lb. loaves.

I always check amazon reviews of products as amazon usually has a lot of them. Kachina which one did you end up with if you don't mind saying ? Were you happy with it?

Looking back I don't know where I saw that Chris Freytag's model was a West Bend?? --oh well. I did love my Breadman but it took up a lot of space.

I have seen some by Emeril Lagasse and wonder if he will sell them on QVC. I would love to see a presentation of his. I notice it has a gluten free cycle , although I made GF in my old one that turned out pretty good ( which is relative Smiley Happy but much better and cheaper than purchased gf.

I got the Sunbeam because it had good ratings, the price was right, it was eligible for Prime (free shipping), and it'll do everything I want it to do. I've only made one loaf and it was great. I originally ordered a Cuisinart but there was something wrong with it so had to return.

** It is shown in some of the pictures on the product description page. I did not know Emeril had a bread maker, looks kind of interesting, made by T-Fal and since qvc carries both, I would say there is a good chance it will eventually make it over here.

Re: anyone own the Chris Freytag bread maker

I haven't seen Chris Freytag on QVC for a while and I have never bought her products. I wouldn't be surprised if Emeril does bring a bread machine to QVC. I've had a Breadman for many years and really like it. Haven't baked bread lately though because of diabetes.

Re: anyone own the Chris Freytag bread maker

tkins, I do not see the 'west bend ' info anymore . I e-mailed Q asking who manufactured it and they said they would be up to seven days to answer as they had to find out. I thought I saw it somewhereSmiley Happy.

I had seen Chris Freytag on the Q but didn't know who she was. I googled her and I guess she has done a lot on Prevention magazine.

I forgot I had stored back another small bread machine thrift store find a Panasonic . It works alright but makes small loaves with a large amount of crust, but will do until I make a decision . If they reduce the CF one or perhaps Q will start selling Emeril's. I remember seeing it on hsn and it has a lot of features including making baguettes -- I don't know if they can be baked in the machine on the racks or in your oven ( you can do that with the dough cycle on all then put in oven) . I sent the Q a suggestion to sell his. I hate it when I buy something then see the item with better bells and whistles! Smiley Happy

Re: anyone own the Chris Freytag bread maker

Hi Okay,
First, I hope you were not offended in anyway by my reply as to where the westbend information on Chris Freytag breadmaker was, sometimes things like, where did I see that can drive you nuts, just trying to help. here is a copy of the picture from the item K38095 page

I also found a link for the instruction book for the Emeril bread and baguette maker for you

http://www.emerils.com/img/img-upload/Breadmaker-Instructions.pdf

wow is it ever a cool bread maker, it actually comes with inserts to make baguettes in the bread maker and it has lots of really neat features, I may have to rethink my whole breadman thing, course I don't need one now anyway, but I will tuck it away for the future. Glad to hear that you have a back up machine to use, until you find a new one. Again hope no offense and please post your final choice once you decide and most of all how you like it.
