Freaked out?, made me laugh... but, definitely agree that are getting bigger... and, in this case, bigger is not always better ... quite the opposite really.
Several years ago now, I started buying whole chickens or breast and thigh pieces from a Mexican meat market down in town. And, they are so much better!!! For a whole chicken, they range pretty much range from a little less than 2 1/2 - 3 lbs max. The meat is tender and juicy, just like a chicken off the farm at my Gramma’s house. Yummy!
The chicken industry is just ruining the chickens - don’t really know what they are thinking. Not much - obviously. Except they can get more money for a chicken pumped full of junk. 🐔

I live rural and only buy my chicken from the local farms in our area. No huge chickens, just the normal size.

We no longer buy Perdue chicken legs and thighs because of the size of them.
They're tough and stringy and I can't stomach the smell of them while they are in the oven.
I don't know what Tyson is like because now when we want chicken parts, we buy them from a small market.

Another reason for me to not like chicken. Yuck!
Several years ago a friend of mine raised special feeder chickens. He bought them as chicks and they were a special breed that does nothing but eat, making them gain weight and get large in a very short amount of time. As soon as they got a certain weight they were slaughtered.
I dont buy chicken so I have not paid any attention to them but Im guessing they are genetically altered animals.

@kittyloo To answer your question, yes.
I have 3 different brands in my freezer: in one package, they are small and about the size of a playing card. They're WW and I purchased them on sale. They are NOT big in any way and these are size/weight that WW uses regarding points. Another pack is from Costco and each breast in the pack is equal to 2 of these plus a little bit more. To me, these are "normal" sized chicken breasts. The third is a fresh pack from Aldi's and these are HUGE... I mean HUGE. The thickest part is 3 inches minimum and they're about 7 inches plus in length. I can feed 2 with one of these.
I do wonder how there is such a difference in size. I think the same thing when I look at turkey breasts; how big WAS that turkey for the breasts to be SO LARGE?!
Freaky is an understatement : (
