I just posted about the Cuisinart bread maker I have in a separate topic in the Kitchen area.

I had a bunch of coupons and cash back rewards from Williams-Sonoma last year and on a whim bought this light weight bread maker.  We've used it quite a bit and it makes really great bread.  It isn't made as well as the Zo's and I don't know how long it will last, but it does work well.

It has a very good little cookbook too!  So just FYI!   I mostly use the ZO's but this one is really light weight and easy to get out of the pantry! LOL!!

@tiny 2  That herbed cheese bread sounds great.  What kind of herbs and cheese did you use?  I would love to make that.

@Sooner, I don't remember the year, but the only bread machine I ever had was soemthing called a DAK.  You ordered it directly from the company.  It looked like a white R2D2 and made a huge round loaf, the diameter of which resembled a Schlotzky's sandwich if you're familiar with those.  The one thing it didn't do was whole grain.  That was before whole grain became popular.  I never had a bit of a problem with it, but pulled it out a few years ago to make pizza dough with it and it did kinda walk the countertop.  It had never done that before so I have to guess the pizza dough must be heavier than bread dough.  It was a heavy machine too, so I don't think machine weight is the only thing that keeps these things from walking.  I sold it on a yard sale group a couple of years ago.

@Icegoddess  Oh yes I remember those!  They were so cute!  I always wanted one!  A friend had one and made the best orange bread from the instruction book.  They should bring those back.  A Star Wars version!  LOL!!

@tiny 2  Thanks so much for responding even though you are traveling.  This certainly can wait a few days.

And by all means go and vote.  I plan doing the same.

@CLEM,  This is from the book Bread Machine Baking  Perfect Every Time by Lora Brody & Millie Apter (very old book) The recipes are tweaked for different machines. I am including the larger that I use and the one for the small Zo. There is also a 4 cup version if you google the name of the recipe.

Rita Fried’s Garlic Herb Bread

2 2/3 cups unbleached white flour

1/3 cup nonfat dry milk

1 teaspoon salt

¼ cup plus 1 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese

1 teaspoon oregano

¼ teaspoon dried basil

1 teaspoon garlic powder (not garlic salt) (It will stall the yeast)

1 cup plus one tablespoon water

1/4 cup olive oil

21/2 teaspoons yeast

Place all the ingredients except the yeast in the machine.

Place yeast in the dispenser. Program for Basic Bread and press Start

@tiny 2  Thank you so much for the recipe for the Garlic Herb Bread.  Will try it out after I get some unbleached white flour.  It sounds delicious.

Think I'll make it too. Sounds like the bread (sticks) they have at Fazolli's, Olive Garden, etc.

Thanks !
