I used to leave the peels on.  I prefer the buttery yukon golds along with a little sour cream or yogurt and salt and pepper.

Now I peel 'cause my furbaby LOVES mashed potatoes among other things and dogs can't eat the peels.

I also like to sometimes mix in some mashed carrots or dices cooked cabbage. I just LOVE mashed potatoes!Woman Happy

Me too! I can't believe I ever hated them as a child I mean I despised them. But as an adult they're one of my favorite things on Thanksgiving

I always use Yukon Gold for mashed and red skinned for potato salad. I peel the potatoes for both. I put butter, milk, sour cream, salt and pepper in the mashed. I’ve been using my hand mixer to whip them up so they’re not so lumpy.

I peel them, I don't eat mashed potatoes but if left the peel on no one I know would eat them.  They wouldn't even touch them.

I use Yukon gold potatoes and peel the skins off.  I have a Titan peeler and it is wonderful.  Actually, I have four of them.

It's the best peeler I have ever had and works like a charm..even on sweet potatoes with thick skin.

@Ladybug724 Just me:  I use the russets for mashed or baked, usually boiled and then peeled, and the red or white jacketed potatoes for potato salad, also boiled and then peeled.

I only eat mashed potatoes a couple times a year....I get the Bob Evans ones that you just heat and eat.

Occasionally I will buy a big potato to bake..,,I scrub it well before baking, and eat the skin.
