Not a real ice cream lover either...if it disappered off the face of the earth I wouldn't miss it, but once a summer I get the taste for a cone, in which case I go for plain vanilla - preferably homemade.

THAT BEING SAID, I have relatives in South America & in Uruguay they have a neopolitan which is to die for - vanilla & dulce de leche & sambayon. The dulce de leche is the real thing, NOT the USA 'caramel' version which is nothing like authentic dulce de leche. The real deal is thick like peanut butter. So delicious! When I visit, I eat record-setting amounts of this divine neopolitan.

Vanilla but not the vanilla bean kind.  Just good old plain soft vanilla.  Yes, I am BORING and plain.  Dairy Queen used to sell ice cream with real coconut, pineapple and maraschino cherries in it.  That was a favorite of mine too.  Haven't had it in many, many years.

My favorite sundae is the pistachio ice cream with hot fudge and whipped cream.....

A local dairy makes wonderful ice cream.  Our favorite is Ginger.  It is very mild and creamy and addictive.  It is also very expensive to make, but worth a special treat.

Of course, I realize it’s hard to imagine this.
