I just started drinking wine about 3 yrs ago. I do not like the vinegar tasting wines and i like the sweeter ones.

I have found St. Michelle, Pacific Rim, My favorite is Sweet Walter, red,white or rose'.

Rocker, I don't like vinegar tasting wines either. I won't use them for cooking. I save them for unwanted company {#emotions_dlg.devil2}

My husband and I have traveled through many of the wine regions of France...Bordeaux, Burgundy, Champagne, Alsace, Provence, Loire, and Cognac for their brandy. We've taken countless tours, had many tastings, and they were all as marvelous as anyone could imagine.

Vivian, for my 50th birthday (in 4 years), my husband is taking me to France for a wine tasting tour! I can't wait!!!!

I've never heard of Alsace.

Many wineries are using screw tops on white wines because you aren't going to store them. I'll try most anything, but I live near Lodi so drink many wines from there, as well as Napa. I do like reds from Italy, sauv blanc from NZ, and sancerre when I can find as a bit drier than NZ sb.

RJB, I used to travel to Lodi for work. It was before I discovered wines.

What are sancerre wines?

Someone at the farmers' market (a customer, not a vendor) gave me a bottle of homemade wine on Sunday. That was really sweet of her for thinking of me!

I haven't opened the wine yet. When do I give her a thank you card? When I open it or right away?

Anyone?

I'm the Wine Coordinator for a local farmer's market. Someone gave me a pinot grigio from Lodi today.

I'm drinking it now and it's quite pleasant!

I added some white wine to my homemade salsa and used it for a chicken hot dish.  I tasted it not too long ago and I am very pleased with the results!

What is everyone drinking for the holiday weekend?

I picked up my usual case of Low Hanging Fruit chardonnay.  I tried a red yesterday, a cab, at a restaurant with hubby.  It was okay for the meal, but nothing I would buy..

Hi, honnybrown. Sounds like you know quite a bit about wines, lol. I don't know that much but I enjoy having a Reisling or Moscato with my dinner most nights. Even if it's a hamburger, the wine seems to put polish to the meal. Not a fan of anything too bitter.
