I love to cook, I have since I was a young teenager. My first try was an apple pie & I went from there. I also love baking too. I love trying new recipes & changing them to my tastes if there's something I'm not fond of in it. I too find it relaxing. An offshoot of my love of cooking has become writing. My cousin & I have talked about starting a food blog so I started writing stories about recipes that had a story behind them, then I branched out to other subjects but I love food so much I even love writing about it. I don't know if anything will come of it but I love it too. Starting Thursday of Super Bowl Weekend I must have made 5-6 different things, chili, cookies, soup, I just went nuts. I go through spurts like that but cooking is something I just love to do.

I'm a good cook (will never be as great as my mother was) but would rather eat out or get takeout instead of all the time involved. I really don't mind cooking but one of us would have to either crave something only I can make or have a special occasion where I need to. Before I retired I actually cooked way more than I do now and I had less time. I love to bake and enjoy it but now that I don't work, the calories of consuming all the stuff I baked would just be too much for only 2 or us. We'd scarf them down fast enough but just not healthy. I do freeze some baked things and pack them in individual portions - that is if they make it that far.

I cook as I'm super picky about what I'll eat. But, my cooking is very basic--veggies and fish or veggies and chicken. I use the microwave a lot.{#emotions_dlg.laugh}

And here I was thinking of getting a cat to do it for me!

If I had a clean up crew, there would be a lot more home cooked meals!

LuvTheMountains and Lily1, thanks for the tip about A Taste Of Home magazines, I got turned on to it from a gift subscription and to Lily1, the same Christmas I bought my husband the Red KitchenAid mixer, he bought me the red KitchenAid blender, ha, ha. We think alike.

I used to love cooking. I always loved trying, and creating, new recipes. For quite a while I would pick a different country each month and only cook recipes from that particular country/region. It was so much fun and I made it a learning experience for my children. We would discuss the "country of the month" each evening during meal time, and it was so much fun and very educational. Now that they're grown, and I have health issues that make doing some things uncomfortable, I don't enjoy cooking as much. I think I'm just all "cooked-out" now.lol...I do still like baking, especially on holidays. My grandchildren really enjoy it. and I'm hoping that as they get a little older we can do some baking together. I know that will be fun.

So we can eat. LOL!!! Restaurants around here not too good IMO. I cook & Dh cleans. I'm not doing both. I do clean some as I'm cooking so he does not have much to clean.
