Why do they make the cords on small appliances so short? I just cranked up my Ninja 4 in 1 for the first time and had to rearrange my whole small kitchen in order to plug it in. Same thing with my CE pressure cooker. I bet those cords are no longer than 18". Very annoying.

I think one of the reasons is so people won't drape them across things, trip over the cord and then sue them when we get burned. How do you like the Ninja? I have been considering buying one..

@gmkb Just made my first entree, the one-pot fettuccine Alfredo. Haven't eaten yet but it smells good.
You may be right about the reason but I don't like it.

Child safety 'bull'. Those pull away magnetic plug ins are the worst. People don't watch their kids and companies don't want to get sued, etc.
Just like now days kids are eating soap powder detergent pods and I guess any other type of pods, so, the companies have to think up other ways to keep people's kids from getting into stuff that should be put away in first place.

I keep a 6' POWER extension cord in the kitchen (the big fat ones used for tools, etc.) I also use it in case I HAVE to iron something. (OK, I admit I don't quite know where the iron is stashed right now.)
My big beef is NEVER enough outlets in the bathroom. I've got a power strip fixed to the wall in there................

I iron about two hrs a week. Walmart has some good electric sockets all on 1 piece that you plug into wall. Need them in bathrooms.

This is so annoying. I recently purchased some tart burners and the darn cords were so short they have to sit on the counter right by the plug! 😤

I read where someone said, "If Steve Jobs was so smart, how come he only put a 2 ft cord on an iPad?" I confess I quickly learned how to order longer ones on Amazon.

Because they want the items plugged directly into a wall socket and not used with an extension cord - which people might actually DO if the cord was 5-6 feet long. As it is, they actually force you to use an extension cord. The very thing they're trying to make sure you don't do.

I see more and more kitchen toys become more powerfull.
LOOK at the WATTS.
Many now are 1500, some even 1800 WATTS.
I have no idea what the MAX is from a wall socket.
Remember the person that sued McDonalds over a too HOT cup of coffee??
I bought a CrockPot from the Salvation Army.
It looked brand new
It was recalled.
The side screwed on handles would come off when the crockpot was FULL and HOT and people were lifting it
Happy cooking !!!
I am not a electrician, I just play one in forums !!! LOL
