Why Did You Buy the Vitamix 7500 vs the 5200?

I am on the fence as to whether to buy the 7500 or the 5200.

The advantages of the 7500 that I can see are that it has a 2.2 HP motor vs the 5200 which has the 2.0 HP. Not sure if this is overkill or a marketing tool to sell a more expensive machine? Can the 5200 do just as much as the 7500 with the smaller motor? I guess with the bigger motor you can do things a little faster than the 5200?

Also it says that it is 40% quieter than the 5200 which I guess would be nice especially if you are making things early in the morning and don't want to wake up the neighborhood.

Any other reasons for choosing the 7500 over the 5200?

Anyone with a 5200 or a 7500 please chime in and tell me why you like the 7500 or the 5200.

I believe that the 7500 is more expensive on the Vitamix site but it is cheaper here on QVC?

Any opinions are welcome.

Thanks.

I have a 5200 that was reconditioned and was sold to me directly by VitaMix. It has worked great since (maybe 6 years ago or so?). It does everything I want it to do, quickly and efficiently. It has variable speeds and low and high toggle switches, and I have never wishes for anything more.

It is the tall container, and I keep it in the laundry room that is 2 steps away from the kitchen, so the noise is not a real issue. It is noisy, but whatever I do doesn't take too long and I don't mind it.

Hubby and I agree--when it breaks we will buy another immediately.

In addition to the more powerful and noticeably quieter motor, the lower profile of the container allows me to slide the entire machine under the cabinet. Additionally, because the jar is wider and shorter, I find it easier to scrape out nut butters, and I also find that I use the tamper quite a bit less. Having had both, I highly recommend the 7500.

Like KYToby, I chose the 7500 for two reasons - the slightly stronger motor ( and quieter ) motor, and the size and shape of the container. I need to place it under my cabinets, but even now I have to remove the lid to do so. It would seem our cabinets are slightly lower than normal.

I do prefer the shape of the container, as it is easier to handle (at least for me) with thicker ingredients. I'd had other models, which I had passed on to granddaughters who were starting their first homes, and this one just sounded like a bit of an upgrade.

Decided to go with the 7500 and bought it today. It is QVC's best seller and I am surprised that they sell more than the 5200. It is the upgraded version of the 5200, quieter, and more powerful motor which is what sold me on it. Also it is the same motor as the 750 with the only difference being that you get a different cookbook and the 750 has 5 presets which I don't see a need for. Looking forward to using the vitamix.

The cooling fan runs at all speeds on the 7500. On the 5200, the cooling fan only runs when the machine is switched to "high."

It looks like that deal doesn't include the 7500 model.
