Who uses a Bread Machine?

I love homemade bread ! My hubby insists our 18+ yr old bread machine is still working well. I don't think so. I have found a couple machines at a Kitchen store, but our local Walmart and Kohls did not stock them. Do people no longer use them? I don't know whether to purchase one or try to come up with a good recipe that I make by hand? Also have they improved the machines over the last 18 yrs?
