Who bought Prepara from HSN? Need help with latches

I'm having a horrible time getting these things opened. The box directions don't complete the steps.  Move the latches to the open position.  OK, what next?  I had to pry one up with the pointed end of a can opener.  It says they may be tight to start with, but this just can't be right.  People will stab themselves.  What am I doing wrong?

I didn't buy them, am going a different route with food storage. But the product listing images show a container with latches that move in opposite direction to lock or unlock (or vent), and once they're both in the unlocked position, the lid is supposed to be freed. You're saying that doesn't happen for you?

In this video just after 7:00 the OAP demonstrates opening. There's a recessed area on the corner of each side. After sliding the latches open, the lid can be lifted from one of the corners. Here's a picture too.

HSN's video was no help, but the You Tube one did show the opening process.  I've practiced a few times and am finding I have to brace the container against something and barely get in a thumb nail in that recessed area to pull the lid up.  I can see hot liquids going all over the place. I think the set is going back, I'll give it a few more days to work with it.  Great idea, but the design could have been perfected a bit.
