  In the northeast, store brands are not the highest quality ice creams.  Brigham's has been making high quality ice cream for 100 years and

in our house, Brigham's vanilla is the best.

If I am in the moods for ice cream, it would be Haagen Dazs rum raisin. I also like Breyers. I've also heard that Blue Bell makes it also.

@yamma024 If you go to the Turkey Hill website, there may be a "location to purchase" finder.  If you input your city, state, and/or zip code it will tell you where to buy some in Ohio.  Turkey Hill ice cream is a relatively mainstream brand in the United States.

Blue Bunny Vanilla Bean is excellent. My SIL in Atlanta loved it when visiting and he finally found it there few years ago.

Blue Bell Homemade Vanilla is our favorite - and the best with fresh fruit and fruit cobblers!

The price is reasonable, and it often goes on sale. I also like that the size hasn't shrunk; it still comes in half gallons.

Mind you, I haven't tried every vanilla ice cream produced in the world, but I'm working on it.

I'm a gelato fan myself and I appreciate all those expensive pints of specialty brands but, for an affordable, respectable and accessible vanilla I would probably go with one that other posters have already mentioned here.
