For instance, yesterday I bought a garlic press and a flour sifter. I've been cooking regularly for 35 years and managed to get by without them. I smashed and smushed my garlic and sifted flour through a sieve.
I don't have a juicer of any kind.. I squeeze lemons with my hands!
On the other hand, I don't want to live without a good veggie peeler or silicone spatulas.
Which ones do you consider must haves and which are simply cluttering up your drawer?

Must haves-
sharp chef's knife (I like Cutco)
large cutting board
wine bottle opener (I prefer the rabbit)
garlic press
scraper
spatulas
bamboo spoons
collender
cheese slicer
measuring cups/spoons
oil mister
nice, if you have the room-
citrus juicer
apple corer/slicer
hand grater
tea infuser
jar gripper
ice cream scoop
veggie peeler
egg/strawberry slicer

Today, it's my little Ninja. Best and easiest way to make cupcakes. Hubby loves the ones made with pudding and the recipe book that we bought at the same time, has the recipe. They smelled so good and now they're frosted and in the frig for him to eat at his leisure.

I got a battery operated can opener the size of my hand. Works like a charm. You attach and don't even have to hold it. I got it on Pulsetv dot com.

Many things are nice but I've found that few things are necessary. My must haves...
A few paring knifes.
A few sets of stainless steel measuring spoons.
Glass measuring cups.
A good stick blender. This is my newest gadget. I have very little counter space & not enough room for my big blender on the counter. I got the Cuisinart SmartStick from BB&B with one of their discounts.

I have an assortment of gadgets, but the following are the ones I use most:
Several sharp knives and a hand held knife sharpener
Silicone spatulas
Vegetable peeler
Cutting board
Kitchen shears
Hand operated can opener
Ladle
Tongs
Pancake turner
Measuring cups and spoons

I could not cook without tongs. I think I have about six. I use them to toss salads, turn meat, toss vegetables with oil before roasting, etc., etc.
Also a big favorite of mine is a fish spatula. It makes it so much easier to turn so many things besides fish.
Kitchen shears is another one.

a little sleeve of silicone by oxo that you roll with a garlic clove inside and it peels it! I would not want to live without it.
# 2 would be 'prep n pop' that was sold on QVC by Lori... it is sold on Amazon now. I love it and bought one for a friend that also has arthritis in her wrists --it is very helpful .
I love silicone spatulas also.

Chop sticks to poke and stir things with
Ice cream scoops for cookies and corn muffins and ice cream
14"" Henckels knife--you just never know!
Boos cutting board
Henckels poultry shears -- the long ones! A MUST have!
