I use whole wheat spaghetti since I can't find whole wheat lo mein noodles.

Sunshine, you can use spaghetti as Stillamn8r suggested:it works quite well. Another option is buckwheat or soba noodles. I have used whole wheat spaghetti as well.

Substitute fettuccine noodles or Chinese egg noodles.

I just use spaghetti. The local Japanese restaurant uses egg noodles or soba or udon for their noodle dishes. You get to pick which one you like. I don't care for soba or udon noodles.
I make a stir fry with sliced onions, shredded cabbage, cooked pork or cooked chicken and the cooked noodles. I just use salt and pepper and a little soy sauce on it. Cheaper than paying $10.00 a plate for it.
