Where Do You Buy Refrigerators?

I thought this would be helpful for those of us facing fridge buys soon.  It would be nice to know where you have had good experiences buying, with repairs or disappointments in service or delivery and such. Big box stores?  Local appliance stores?

You have so many choices, and so few good choices it seems!  Thanks for responses and experiences.  I also wonder if the quality of supposedly same models is the same dealer to dealer.  Sometimes yes, sometimes no---at least from what I would hear living near a manufacturing town growing up.

I have been purchasing all my large appliances from Lowe's, including refrigerators and a freezer.  Most recently, I purchased a new washer/dryer and cooktop from them.  Had no problems.

We bought our Samsung refrigerator several years ago from Best Buy. We've had no problems with it.

Re: Where Do You Buy Refrigerators?

A good friend put me on to the best way to get appliances serviced in our general area: an independent service company.   It seems that local appliance stores have "outsourced" their service employees to this company.

It cut their expenses...and they were losing their best techs to this company anyway. The independent company has only one goal: give the best service.  They ensure success by giving their folks any training they may need.  No need to push one brand over another...but they will answer your question based on what they see.

Brands can change over time: lower quality, inferior materials, greater use of plastic parts, too much needless technology built in, etc.

We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give.

It's been several years, but the last time we updated our kitchen we bought our appliances from Costco.  I knew what I wanted and did it all online.  Easy Peasy.  The prices were actually better than anywhere else I checked.  Buying from Costco with my Costco branded Visa card also had its own perks of the rebate and free extended warranty.  Installation was smooth and everything has continued to work as intended.

We have a prefessional brand appliance store nearby. I've had just about every single brand out there! I just renovated my kitchen 2 years ago and did high end appliances this time. I chose Blue Star refrigerator and a 48" stove. LOVE them. Far superor than lesser brands. Worth every penny!

Local appliance store.  Always try and support local businesses.  Prices are no higher than elsewhere.
