Where Can I Find Nutritional Yeast In The Supermarket?

I looked in the spice isle and never can find it. I really don't know where else to look for this product. You can use it like a powered cheese in soups, popcorn etc. has a nutty taste. Anyone know where it can be found? TIA

Try the "Health & Beauty" aisle.........or some markets (like Albertsons) have an entire "drug store", usually Osco, as a whole separate department under the same roof.

I usually can only find it in one of our Health Food stores. I've never seen it in our regular food markets, but I live in a small town. DW

Any natural foods market will have it packaged or in the bulk section. I go to Whole Foods for mine. I buy it in the large flake and use it on everything I want to taste cheesy. Salads, in soups., over veggies, over pizza. It is one on the holy grail of flavorings for vegan cooking. I made a great vegan mushroom gravy for last Thanks giving using it and soy sauce. Google it!

I agree that the product you are looking for is a nutritional supplement, so it will be in a specialty section with vitamins, minerals and other supplements---not in the food section of a grocery store.

Re: Where Can I Find Nutritional Yeast In The Supermarket?

I accidentally came across it in my supermarket in the "natural foods" section.

I wasn't looking for it at the time, but had just recently read some posts about it being good sprinkled on oven baked kale chips and popcorn, so I was thinking of trying it.

I have to say I love the flavor of this stuff, and have started just sprinkling it on toasted bread, instead of using butter.

I'm going to try to find it elsewhere, though, maybe health food stores or places like that, or investigate online sources. It was a little expensive I thought, in the supermarket. The jar was very small and was something like $6. I'd buy it at this price, though, it's so good, and goes a long way.

Amazon has lots of options, various price points and free shipping if you're a Prime customer.

In a grocery store you would only probably find it if they have a healthy food section. OR if they carry the Bob's Red Mill line of goods, if the store has the nutritional yeast on the order sheet they MIGHT carry it with all the flour and other products Bob's carries. Other wise just go to a health food store, OR, buy online is what I do.

Wagirl, since you've been using it for awhile, have you ever made a "cheese sauce" with it? I love nutritional yeast-I wish my husband could have it because there are so many great things you can do with it.(He has gout and the top two no-nos are no beer and no nutritional yeast)

Thanks,
