Re: When your kitchenware walks away.....

Our best friends have a huge yard and a beautiful pool, so they're the ones who host our frequent get-togethers.  I always bring several dishes when we go there and that's the time I can use all my favorite stuff, because they are excellent at returning them.  I never hesitate to bring anything there - usually my Temptations bakers with lids and carry totes.. no matter what,  I can always count on them to return stuff.

I guess it goes to show how irresistible L&L seems to be.

I guess I'm an exception - my sister gave me the bag/container holiday set one year and I was just not smitten.

Re: When your kitchenware walks away.....

I buy cheap disposable containers when I see them on sale at grocery stores.  I buy all sizes.  I would never send my good stuff out because it is a pain for people to remember to return them and I want to be sure they don't get lost.

Re: When your kitchenware walks away.....

I do send food home with me DD's in L n L, but it's usually the colors I no longer favor.  They do return them.  For anyone else, it's the cheapies from Target or Dollar Tree.  Love my L n L.

Re: When your kitchenware walks away.....

There are plenty of throw aways available at Dollar Tree. Sometimes we will buy a pretty dinner plate at Goodwill and take food in that w/the understanding we do not want it back.

Re: When your kitchenware walks away.....

I love your idea of giving them cupcakes in those cute little L&L containers.  They are handy.  I have one piece like that, that came in a set eons ago.

It's unfortunate that people will keep your property, even when they ask if you want it back and you say that you do.

For me, when I send something out of my house it is in something other than the L&L containers I want to keep.  Well, I have sent my husband to the office with one for his lunch but it has to be accompanied with PLEASE do not drop, break, or lose this.  So far, so good.  Smiley Very Happy  But, if it's something for which I have an old Tupperware microwave container I use those, particularly if it's something that needs to be nuked because I do NOT nuke my L&L.

@house_cat

I buy at $ store the cheap ones 4/$1 if I'm baking or entertaining -- I keep them on hand for take home and giving away treats.

Now, today my "purge" has been my obsession and overload with Lock N Locks.  Never use the whole set (used to split with my friend who moved long ago).  I threw away the old old ones, non nesting & stained.

So as I'm embarrassed posting this pic but I am so you can take as many as you like,  there going to Vietnam Vets on Tuesday pickup --  Next purge, table linens.

On Tuesday this will be me 🙈..lol

(Then I flick on ITKWM and see the big deal Lock N Locks. Hmmmm maybe I should just donate them all & just get the new set🤔).

Re: When your kitchenware walks away.....

I wouldn't ever lend out my tupperware condainters nor my L&L not even to my mother ... lol ... like many have said, I would use other type of contaners.

I love the Chinese Egg drop wonton soup.  I would order it by the qt. size container, so needless to say, I have plenty of them; I save them and use those, when there are food to give out.

When the holidays would come around, and sending food home with people, at times I would use my foodsaver as well to send food home with people.

When I would take food to work and or go someplace to take food and to bring back my dishes, and;or serving pieces, etc., I would put one of my sticker backed return address labels on the bottom of the dish; this way I have no problem claiming my items.

Re: When your kitchenware walks away.....

You made me curious about the L&L small domed bowls, so I checked them out and just ordered a set. I haven't purchased L&L before since I have just enough pyrex glass dishes and not a lot of storage. But - I like to make sugared pecans for stocking stuffer Christmas gifts and always end up buying throw-away containers. This size will be perfect and the recipients won't end up throwing out the containers (hopefully). I'm sorry to hear your friends aren't returning your containers, but in my case I'll buy them so they can keep them. Thanks again!
