Re: When was the last time someone cooked for you?

[ Edited ]

I love cooking. My husband cooks most weekends but I usually make the side dishes if he's cooking the main course.

Before we married, he cooked Thanksgiving dinner completely by himself for years, including baking the pies. Now he still smokes the turkey but I do the rest ( my choice).

Re: When was the last time someone cooked for you?

It's nice to hear that so many husbands love to cook.  My dad started cooking when he retired at 60, and quickly became the resident chef.  My mom was a dutiful, but uninspired cook - dad was just the opposite.  He loved it. I get that from him.

I know my DH would cook if I asked him to, but he is one of those people who eats only enough to survive and never thinks about food unless I place it in front of his face.  I go out to dinner with my friends once a month. I always leave him something to pop in the oven, because when I don't, he doesn't eat. It's not laziness, he just doesn't think about eating. I know that sounds a little nuts, and frankly it is, but that's him.

My parents are not alive and my son who lives here fixes his own food. He'd cook for me if I wanted dinner at 11 pm, and if I didn't mind having pasta or pizza 7 nights a week.

My younger son is much like me. He enjoys all things creative and he's an excellent cook, but he lives very far away.

I have wonderful friends, but their families are all grown and none of them cook anymore... so, what I'm saying is that no one cooks for me unless I pay for it, lol.

I don't know why it's been on my mind lately.  It's been so many years since my mom or dad cooked me a meal.  Today would be my mom's 92nd birthday.  Her cooking wasn't very good, but I'd sure love to hear her say, "Are you hungry?  Want some frozen waffles?", lol.

This morning.   My husband cooks often; he just needs direction as to what to cook.   He knows he will be cooking more often when I have knee surgery in a few months.

Re: When was the last time someone cooked for you?

My husband makes dinner every night. He is just an amazing cook and loves the whole process.

I am grateful, just as anyone should be grateful when their partner works hard and one benefits from it. I don't feel lucky, anymore than he feels lucky that I do the cleaning and laundry. :-)

  I hear you.

  My ex-husband was like that.

  My EX-husband!

I was afraid to get sick, too.

I don't think too much of a "man" like that, actually, IMHO, they're not much of a man.

Thank God for my DH. He is so good to all of us.

He is such a good cook, he could be a chef. And he loves to cook. We reap the benefits.........Woman LOL

Actually tonight my DH cooked for me-a chicken recipe in the LeCreuset TSV from November I gave him for Christmas. He has been cooking for me every weekend since Christmas thanks to this set-a worthwhile investment for me!

DH often grills if I don't cook.   I also cook the big family meals inless we grill salmon or ribs.  We don't go out much because he travels and is in offices all day.

He gets oversaturated socially and I'm the opposite!
