I was just reading some recipes on the "Nesco" site and one of them stated:
"Put pie shell/pan in freezer for 1 hour to firm up. Remove from freezer and cover shell with foil. Place in cookwell and bake 10 minutes. Then remove foil and bake another 10 minutes or until crust begins to brown."
I bake my pie crusts in the oven, but I have never heard of putting them in the freezer first. I have heard of putting the foil in while baking.
Anyone put their crusts in the freezer before baking? If so, how does it work out for you...What is the advantage?
TIA
