Re: Whats cooking this november?

Yesterday was DH's 59th birthday.  He had a full day of teaching but he and I did go out to dinner as youngest DD took oldest DD, her dog and her roommate back to DC so DH wouldn't have to make the trip after a long day of working.   We had sweetened whipped ricotta on grilled bread for a starter.  Then I had a grilled artichoke salad.  DH had home made lasagna and meatballs.

Re: Whats cooking this november?

It's another gloomy, rainy day here.  DH and I have to get out for groceries this afternoon.  Costco has their 6' folding banquet tables on sale so we'll pick up a couple for our family's Thanksgiving here.  Our old folding table bit the dust last year. We're hosting, there will be 14 of us.  Some will sit around the dining room table and one banquet table will take care of the rest.  The extra table will be for staging the food and we'll do it buffet style.  Our house isn't real big so we'll have to rearrange furniture in the living room in order to accommodate the plan.  Once dinner is over we can put the tables away and put the living room back in order.

It's one more Tiffany Plate for me, for lunch today.

Re: Whats cooking this november?

Veggie soup and grilled cheese sandwiches for dinner. Rainy & windy here. We waited 1 hour in line to vote. At least there was plenty of indoor space.

We had chopped Asian salad with added grilled chicken.  It's a bagged grocery store salad with almonds, wonton strips, and a great ginger dressing.  Soooo good.  I made a blueberry muffin mix in a loaf pan.  Yum!

@ninjawife   Happy birthday to your hubs.  Your dinner sounded great.

Re: Whats cooking this november?

Good morning everyone. Cool bright and sunny heading into the 70s today. Monday I made 24 southwestern egg rolls for a few dinners and probably a couple lunches for me plus I gave some to my mil. Last night I made tacos with taco bean rice for a couple meals. I ordered tall muffins liners hoping to get muffins that come out tall. every time I make muffins they come out flat with no dome.I'm hoping this helps. Does anyone know why I get flat skimpy looking muffins? Yestauday I got outside and cleared more of the veggie plants that are done for the year and sprayed some weed killer in a few places. I started Christmas shopping for my wife this week. Have a great week everyone.

DH and I did our errands yesterday.  I'm such a weakling when it comes to stuff at Costco.  I happened upon a Lands End light weight raincoat that has a removable quilted vest underneath.  It was only $35 so it went in my cart.  Then I saw some pj's for our grandkids. I texted mommy and she said only the boy needed jammies. I won't give something to one and not the other.  I found a big Hello Kitty activity book that our granddaughter will love.  And I couldn't pass up a big storybook of "The Night Before Christmas".  We will keep that here and I'll read it with them, like my dad read it to me.  Since we're having Thanksgiving early here, I looked for my turkey at a few places.  The biggest one was just under 17 lbs.  I need bigger than that and I need it by Saturday so I can start thawing it.  If worse comes to worse, I have a whole turkey and a breast in my freezer.  I'm thinking of cooking those thr day before and then get one of the small turkeys to roast the day of.  I'd prefer one big bird though.  I have a couple other places to try before I have to make do.

DH and I stayed up quite late, watching the election returns.  Other than finishing up some laundry and making lunch, I have no big plans today (unless we go out later to chase down a turkey).  I have some fresh spinach to use up so I got frozen boneless skinless chicken breasts out and will make us Chicken Florentine. I have some fresh mushrooms that either need to be used or pitched so I'll sautee them and add them to the chicken.  I'll also make some roasted asparagus.
