Re: Whats cooking this july?

Tonight we're having linguini with white clam sauce. I also have a few very mediocre frozen stuffed clams in the freezer that I'll heat up. I'll add a simple Romaine lettuce salad and call it a night.

Re: Whats cooking this july?

Good evening everyone.  Big thunder storm last night and I slept through it I was aware of heavy rain but nothing else. I have last two small peices of leftover chicken for breakfast  just to use it up.I made broccoli rabe with hot Italian sausage made with olive oil, fresh garlic salt and hot pepper. It was definitely spicy. And leftover mushroom risotto and grapes. We finished the last small peice of carrot cake and a few nutter butter cookies. Have a great night everyone.

Re: Whats cooking this july?

Another hot day it was in the 80s before 11 this morning

@Pooky1 you mentioned rabbits eating your garden I don’t know if it’s too late for your garden but I wanted to tell you what our neighbor with large gardens does
When he plants his garden he also plants a patch of clover in a different area for the rabbits, he says they leave his vegetables along and eats the clover
( which is their favorite)
He also throws the “ bad “ vegetables in the middle of the clover patch
If you try it I hope it helps

Tonight I made hamburgers and sweet potato fries for supper
Have a great night and day tomorrow everyone

Re: Whats cooking this july?

Last week I cooked a whole chicken in my crockpot.

The first night we ate it with stuffing, gravy and asparagus.

The next night I made chicken pot pie. I also froze some of the bits and pieces to have chicken quesadillas tonight. My son and DIL raise their own chickens and my freezer is always full, so it's very economical when I make three meals out of a "free" chicken. Free 2 Me!

Re: Whats cooking this july?

I made a big pot of potsticker soup, and we will have Tuna sandwiches tonight on croissants.  Fresh tomato, easy good meal for a hot, humid day.

Enough soup for a quart for the freezer.

[ Edited ]

I missed checking in the last couple of days.  Tuesday we left kinda early for a drive to Amishtown.  Some friends of ours were singing at an early afternoon program with two other groups.  Our reason for attending was to see our friends.  The other two groups were pitiful.  We ended up bumping into some other friends there so we decided to have dinner together at the big restaurant in town.  It was good as usual but not too low carb friendly.  While we were in town, we stopped at the meat & cheese store and picked up a big cheese log that I cut down into manageable portions and vacuum wrap.  I freeze them until I'm ready to use them.

Yesterday, we kept things simple with bacon and eggs for lunch.  I didn't even bother with a vegetable.  I had a zero sugar yogurt too.

DH and I are running up to the UPS store and a quick stop at Aldi a little later.  DS and the kids are coming today. I'm making Chicken Florentine and either green beans or asparagus.

Re: Whats cooking this july?

Trucker daughter asked for homemade pizza; sausage, pepperoni, green pepper and onion is what I made.  I will eat one small slice and she can have at it.  I am not a fan of pizza.
