Re: Whats cooking this december?

@AuntG

Yes, the KFCs in this area offer chicken liver meals; 6 livers, potatoes with gravy, slaw and biscuit for $6.79 maybe.  They are extremely popular here.

Re: Whats cooking this december?

I tried---(shaking my head in disbelief with a big sigh thrown in:womanindifferent): the sous vide pot roast by Perfect Gourmet---was a OTO deal on the last food show---last night for dinner and it was really delicious!! Served with mashed spuds, steamed broccoli and a fruit salad--oh man was it really good!! Was perfectly seasoned, lucious gravy and just a touch of sodium too--- and I mean-- just a touch. Gravy tasted like my mom's. I just put it in simmering water for 10 minutes too. So---usually I stay away from things like this--too many awful stuff here--but this was very good. I am very intrigued with sous vide--my instant  pot has a button on it for sous vide--think I will give that a try.

I wish I were staying today, cold and snowy, but I need to go out for some last minute shopping, groceries and such or I would be making a large pot of chili.  So, I will do that tomorrow instead. It will be even colder.   Like my chili piled on french fries, topped with cheddar cheese.  Gloopy, but oh, so good.

Re: Whats cooking this december?

We're heading to my sister's house today, leaving around noon. I was up early, made a small charcuterie to go, for us to snack on later.  DH and I will probably consider it dinner.  I made broccoli salad for tomorrow and will also bring the candied pecans I made the other day.

My DH does most of the cooking at our house since he primarily works from home and he is in love with his sous vide machine!  He defrosts and cooks most of our meats in it.  For some meats like steaks he will sear after using the sous vide.

We have been winging meals at our house this week.  Last night DH and I got take out from a Mexican restaurant and I got a chicken quesadilla.  It was gross and I could not eat it so I had a bowl of ice cream for dinner.

Tonight DD is making a shrimp dish with rice.

Ribeye steak, mashed potatoes and green beans.

@MOMMAVik   My Kringle came today from O&H!  Trying to save them until our Christmas Eve celebration. They are packaged well.  I hope they will stay fresh till Tuesday.  (If I can possibly keep out of them!) I ordered Raspberry and pecan.

@lynnie61
Enjoy your kringles! We have frozen them sometimes but DH doesn't have enough willpower so they get snacked away. Have a wonderful Christmas ♥️

We are having meatballs & mostaccoli with salad & garlic bread. I took a cranberry nut bread out of the freezer to enjoy with hot cocoa later.

We had a snowfall yesterday that needed plowing & now temps are headed down ... Ugh, that means icy walks.

Re: Whats cooking this december?

After a week of winging it, I have planned all our meals until Friday December 27.  We leave for Disney World on the 28th so I will be set until then.

Today DD and her dog are arriving from DC.  DH is going down there to pick up them and DD's roomate (she is DD's BFF from school- they have been friends since 5th grade).  DD has requested take out from her favorite restaurant - the little Italian place across the road from our neighborhood.

Tomorrow we are going to see the Trans-Siberian Orchestra in Philly and stopping for pizza on the way home.

Monday we are eating at a farm to table restaurant that serves dishes that are 500 calories or less.

On Christmas Eve we are munching on a cheese and charcuterie board.

Christmas day is beef tenderloin, au gratin potatoes, caesar salad, bread and chocolate mousse.

On the 26th we are trying a new Italian restaurant that came highly recommended from my co-worker.

On the 27th we will have leftovers from Christmas dinner.

Re: Whats cooking this december?

Good morning!

Today, I made goat cheese herb scrambled eggs and toast in my cast iron pan for breakfast. I also did a homemade almond milk peppermint hot chocolate. Yay me, that was good!

Today, I think I am going to take out my 2qt slow cooker and make some cajun chili. I've been meaning to do it for a while now and haven't gotten to it.

I also need to make a carrot cake for a birthday tomorrow. And so it begins... 👩🏻‍🍳

Happy Saturday!
