Re: Whats cooking this august?

It's still beautiful outdoors.  So much so, that we still don't need the AC.

Small ribeyes are thawing for lunch,  I'll season them with Gibson's Steakhouse Seasoning and finish them with a little truffle butter.  Steamed broccoli on the side.  I can't wait!

Re: Whats cooking this august?

Went to lunch at a Mediterranean Grill and had my first falafel wrap.

After my evening hike in the rain, I made my provolone cajun spiced omelet and toast.

Off for a hot bath!

Re: Whats cooking this august?

The weather changed so drastically and so quickly. I took my granddaughter to the playground today and it was actually cold and drizzly. We were not dressed appropriately.

My son called from work this afternoon and told me not to cook, he was bringing home Mexican food. I'm not even sure what it was I ate, but it was good and I didn't have to cook it!

Not sure who it was who mentioned the Stella D'Oro cookies, but it sure did bring back memories. My grandmother always had them in the house. My favorites were the anisette toasts and anisette sponges.  I haven't seen them since moving away from NY in 2001, but there's a brand that my granddaughter has come to love and they're expected to be in my pantry at all times.  Coincidentally, she calls me Nonni.

Re: Whats cooking this august?

@house_cat I love the limone so much, I can't have them in the house.

This morning, I did toast with peanut butter and a protein drink. For lunch, I brought a pita pocket with romaine and provolone dressed in red wine vinegar, a salad, cucumbers to snack on and pistachois with a yogurt parfait. Probably do chickpea pasta in some form for dinner. Still raining here. Have a nice day!

Re: Whats cooking this august?

Our ribeyes really hit the spot.  We usually like around 8-9 oz. piece.  Yesterday's were a bit large for us, 11.7 and 12.08 oz.  We were full, but happy.  It made me wonder how in the world competitive eaters do it?  I've seen videos of one girl in particular who is small, but ripped.  She eats massive amounts of food that could easily feed a family of four our five.

DH heard from the door company yesterday.  Our two front doors will be ready around the 15th.  They scheduled the installation for the 20th.  I know it's a designer thing to pick an bold accent color for a front door.  We couldn't do it.  Our DD & DSIL have a red door with a beautiful stained glass window.  It's gorgeous.  DH painted our oringal door dark green when jewel tones were a thing but then painted it a taupe colored which has remained for probably 20 years at least. The new door will be dark brown on the outside and cream on the inside.

I have salad fixin’s that need to be used today since we wont be eating here the rest of the week.  Lunch will be a big salad with grilled chicken.
