Today is DH's birthday (74th but keep it a secret)!! DS & I are taking him to one of his favorite choices, Portillos, for early dinner. Then later we have his favorite cake, Danish layer with whipped cream frosting.

So no cooking today but just as well. Hot & very humid here & may cool down tomorrow. Looking forward to some fall cooking & baking.

Can I just say, I'm putting my vacuum sealer through its paces?  I have never used one before this prepping project.  It's a cheapy from Amazon and I got a box of the bagging material from Costco.  Yesterday afternoon I cooked a bunch of bacon and breakfast sausage links and divided them into packets. I had to clean out my garage deep freeze and reorganize.  I'm just about maxed out on space and still need to add a few more things. lol - I'll make it work.

The oven is heating up again this morning.  Today I'm making:

Pumpkin Pecan Scones w/Cinnamon Glaze

Butter Pecan Cake

Lemon Olive Oil Cake

Egg Bite Muffins (Cheddar Bacon & Spinach) change shoes

Lunch for today:

Bacon Cheeseburgers w/usual toppings, in a lettuce wrap

Roasted Brussels Sprouts

Re: Whats cooking in september?

Garden tomatoes w/ cheese.

Lay sliced tomatoes in a baking dish w/ EVOO, sprinkle w/ S&P. Top w/ grated parmesan reggiano, maybe some provolone. Sprinkle seasoned breadcrums over that & drizzle w/ EVOO. Bake at 375 for about 25 min.

Re: Whats cooking in september?

DD cooked arroz con pollo (rice with chicken).  We don't let her cook often as she makes a total mess of the kitchen.

Re: Whats cooking in september?

I saved four out of the gazillion meatballs I cooked on Sunday and we're having meatball hoagies tonight, along with leftover Parmesan orzos.

Side note: Yesterday I roasted chunks of summer squash and carrots and made an absolutely delicious soup to go with our grilled cheese sandwiches.  DH ate one spoonful and said he loved the taste but not the texture... ugh.. sometimes I really want to clobber him. My son came by today to pick up something else and was very happy to take that soup off my hands.

Re: Whats cooking in september?

House cat.I can remember my mother cooking dinner every night and she would ask my father how is it and his answer most often was its alIright. Once in a while she would say  really make me feel like cooking. Once time she made sirloin tips and I forget what else and he got home like 2 hours late so she put his plate on the stove for when he got home.he didn't eat it and just left it on the stove. Next day she said I made you steak that you like.why didn't you eat it and his answer was it looked like something died on the plate. She said well if you came home when you were supposed to get home it would have been better. So I get what you mean.  So in my moms case and your case it resulted in my severe loss of interest.  Is that accurate when you cook and you hubby don't care for it.
