Re: Whats cooking in september?

[ Edited ]

I won't be cooking anything for a few days. DH and I are celebrating our anniversary tomorrow and taking a little trip to Michigan.  We'll visit some family, see some friends, and take in a SG concert while we're away.  This evening we're eating out at a favorite place.  I'm saving my appetite all day because I already know I'm having prime rib with horseradish cream, a tossed salad with house made bleu cheese dressing, and steamed broccoli. My biggest decision is if I'm ordering the 8 oz. or 10 oz. As much as I'd like the 10, I'm thinking I'll stick with the 8.  I was planning on wearing capris today but think I have had to revamp my wardrobe.  It's looking like it's fall up there.

Re: Whats cooking in september?

Beef cubes, golden potatoes & carrots in the crock pot.

Hope DH can wait until lunch.  I put this in overnight, and he's going crazy w/ the aroma!

@JeanLouiseFinch  How did your chicken pizza crust turn out?

@Harpa  The crust was made with ground chicken and a few other things.  It wasn't bad, but it wasn't anything to rave about either.  I think it needed mor seasoning.  It tasted better the second day.  I have another one I want to try with canned chicken.

Happy Anniversary @JeanLouiseFinch  Today is supposed to be (will keep my fingers crossed) the last triple digits temp. for the rest of this year.  Yesterday was 108º.  Not looking quite like fall yet but I know it is coming.  Have a great night tonight with your best guy!!

Boy do I hear ya!  I have chili in my crockpot. We went out together to run some errands and when we got back and opened the front door we both said, "Wow!"

I don't have a lot of alternative cooking pots, other than those that I use stovetop, but if anyone tries to take my crockpot they're in for a fight!

I'm curious about your recipe. Is it beef stew?

@JeanLouiseFinch

I made a chicken crust a few months ago. I'd cooked a whole chicken, shredded some and used it for the crust.  It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't anything I'm going to make again.

Re: Whats cooking in september?

After spending the entire day at the VA for 3 appointments, I am too tired to cook a meal.  I offered to make a hot dog, but teacher daughter wanted KFC, so she's bringing that for supper.  I will gladly pay in order to keep relaxing in my recliner!

Re: Whats cooking in september?

DH and DS hit up Costco & came home with hot dogs so I'll serve them with some chili I had in the freezer & add some shredded cheese & chopped onions. Sweet potato fries, sliced cukes on the side. Dessert is fruit salad with strawberries, blueberries, watermelon & canteloupe. Before long the delicious summer fruits will be gone so we gobble them now!

I love KFC ,so if your daughter wants to stop here , she can stay as long as she would like !
