Re: What was your grocery price increase shock from your last trip?

PEPPER!  not even peppercorns, just plain, coarse-ground black pepper, McCormick, was $5.95 (net wt, 3.12oz) - outrageous!!!

Re: What was your grocery price increase shock from your last trip?

I am in WV, and just got home from grocery shopping at IGA.   Large eggs were 2 dozen for $5.  The bread we like was $3.89 a loaf, but felt old, so I bought our second favorite for $3.29 each.  Cabbage was 89 cents a lb.  8 oz Kraft mozzarella cheese was $3.99, which is up $1.50, and 1/2 gallon of 2% milk was $2.59.   Last year I was buying Nestle bottled water 2 for $5; today was $4.79 each.

I continue to buy basic items on every trip to maintain pantry stock.

Trucker daughter is having to go to multiple warehouses to pick up the food product she's hauling back because of warehouse shortages.

Re: What was your grocery price increase shock from your last trip?

Okay... here's an update to my previous post.

Today I paid $8.38 for a small loaf of gluten-free bread that looks an awful lot like styrofoam.

In addition to that, I paid  $6.98 for a package of six soft french bread rolls.

If I didn't need these items for lunch guests today, I would have just walked away shaking my head.

My kids are all struggling financially since Covid and I try to help them out by picking up things when I see reasonable prices, but what's happening to those families who don't have back-up?  It's a tragedy.

Almost everything goes up every time I shop.  Needed to get vanilla extract and was shocked, so got vanilla flavoring instead.

Avocados have doubled in price and aren't as good now.  Perhaps seasonal variations.

Cherries! My 3rd purchase for the season.....I just grabbed a bag, and when we got to the checkout the cashier remarked that they were like a small mortgage.

Small mortgage? What was she talking about? Then she said they were $15.....!!

The only price I had looked at was a 1 lb. pack of ground beef - $7 something!

Okay, fine! The 15 buck cherries! If I had known, I think I would have opted for the strawberries. But cherries are so good for you! As it turned out, the cherries are not even that good!!

Raisins, $4.35  for a 20 oz. canister at Aldi.  Needless to say, they didn't get put in the cart.
