Coffee, coffee and more coffee. That might not be what you are looking for but in our house we drink only Trader Joes coffee. We like their House Blend which is Columbian & Sumatra. It has a wonderful deep, rich flavor that we look forward to every morning. We get their whole bean and grind it right there in the store. They also have great, natural bread, cheese and my husband loves Joes O's cereal in the morning. Our local TJs' is 28 miles away so when we go, we stock up on our favorites. We never leave without at least two big containers of coffee.
Enjoy your trip. You might even be in time to get all sorts of free samples to eat or drink as you walk around. We love Trader Joe's!

Also, they have for the holidays, Danish Kringle. It is SO yummy. And one day they were doing tastings of the chicken pot pie and it was really good.
And, by the way, there is no one thing to buy at TJ's! There are lots! Event their flower bouquets are nice and inexpensive. And the greeting cards are only 99 cents.

On 11/29/2014 soonersis said:I realize this is very late to request, but I'm making my first trip to Trader Joe's tomorrow and wonder for those of you who shop there what is your one (or two) favorite, must-have item(s) to get there. I like to eat organic and as natural as possible, so not interested in less than healthy or junk food type products. Any suggestions for body care or non-food items would also be appreciated. Thank you so much for any help you can give me!
Lots of the store isn't organic or natural! Most of it is healthier than the usual food store, but it's definitely not a Whole Foods environment.
My favorite items to buy regularly are the turkey meatballs and gluten free frozen waffles! Love their ruby red grapefruit juice - the soups in the cartons are also terrific.

Produce - the produce is excellent. My absolute favorite item that I make a weekly stop for is fennel, which I buy 4-6 of a week since the price is perfect $2.29 for 2. They retail for $2.99+ each at the regular grocery store so here they are a bargain. I chop them somewhat finely and eat them raw with a homemade Italian salad dressing I make. For those that are not familiar with fennel, also called anise, it has a strong licorice flavor and the crunch-like texture of celery, but not stringy at all. I am Italian and grew up eating it, but for some it may be an acquired taste.
I also buy the leeks (2 to a package) and make leek and potato soup now that it's 'winter' - I'm in Texas so winter is not quite like the winters I had at home in the northeast but still the idea of soup at this time of year is comforting.
All other produce looks very fresh and is worth a try - great value for the $$$.

I also buy the Vegetable Fried Rice in the frozen section and then add to it to make it more fun. I start with a small amount of wok oil and sesame oil, then add finely chopped garlic, ginger and scallions. Then add the frozen rice and as it's cooking add sliced water chestnuts, pea pods and fresh bean sprouts. This makes an excellent side dish with a chicken or beef stir fry.
