expatgal, they're called Smart Tiles. Home Depot has 2 pages listed online - so many to choose from. I saw them in the store and they look really good. I was thinking of getting them to put in my laundry room above my folding counter.

The newest idea seems to be windows. I first saw them on the set of Giada at Home, but I've since seen them used in some of the shelter magazine layouts. Generally, I think they are fixed panes rather than ones that open.

A friend of mine with a very small kitchen just put in mirror. It looks great.
