Re: What's cooking this January?

We haven't had salmon in months, since DH proclaimed he was tired of it.  Well, I made the executive decision to put it on the menu tonight, because I love it.  So, we're having pesto salmon, baked potatoes and salad.

The weather is finally warming up since our recent cold spell. I have a friend visiting from NY and she wants to tour the Biltmore House today. Everyone who comes to our city asks to do that, so this is the FOURTH visit for me.  None of them know that tickets cost at least $80 each. DH says I should ask them to split the cost, but I know he'd never do that and neither would I... so, it's off to the Biltmore House today!

Regarding the McDonald's Coke:

Our last home in California was a townhome. My front door was about 6 feet away from our neighbor's front door and my kitchen window looked out onto the walkway.  Every morning, no fail, the husband would leave around 7 am and come back with a huge cup of Diet Coke from McDonald's.  It was for his wife who said that no other Coke compared to it.  Well, I also say that no husband compared to hers, lol.

Re: What's cooking this January?

Our little granddaughter is having a big dental procedure this morning.  It's underway as I type.  It required her to be under anesthesia and I know her mom and dad are concerned about that. Praying for her safety and a good result.  I hope she doesn't have too much pain afterwards.  I told our DDIL to listen for her to say funny things on the ride home and waiting for the anesthesia to wear off.

Our weather is so weird here, but typical.  Last week we had the snow, then the COLD.  Now it's warming up a little and we have freezing rain which will cause icing and more havoc on the roads.  If we get too much ice build up, tree branches can snap and power will be in jeopardy.  From tomorrow thru the middle of next week we'll be unseasonably warm and all the snow we have will likely melt.  đź¤·â€Ťâ™€ď¸Ź

Since those pork chops are thawed, I'll make them today with brussel sprouts.  Chia pudding w/berries for dessert.

@JeanLouiseFinch, sending good wishes for your little granddaughter to have an easy & complete recovery. The worst part will be over & she'll soon be her precious self!

Thanks, @MOMMAVik   She was born with an upper lip tie that went undetected.  The consequence was that she never she properly latch and always had her mouth slightly opened so bacteria grew and lots of decay on her two front teeth ensued. They continued to chip away.  Today's procedure is all cosmetic.

Re: What's cooking this January?

This week will be very different.  Not only will the weather be different as the temperatures will go up to above normal and we will get rain instead of snow and freezing rain but I will have to work five full days this week.  I have yet to work a full week this month.  In fact I have only worked 7 days this month.  I have almost enough continuing education credits to cover the days off.

Last night we had salmon.  Tonight DH is making black bean soup.

Potato soup with a green salad for us tonight.  Have some fresh cantaloupe here.  For being winter, it has been sweet and delicious.

Stay warm.  Another exciting Tuesday, freezing rain coming in the morning. Another fun commute.

Re: What's cooking this January?

Hamburgers and cole slaw.  Stopped at Sam's Club after work to get paper towels and stuff I share with the kids but they were packed.  I noticed they had some spring things out.  Oh how I wish it was!

@resort gal  thanks for the info for McDonalds coke that makes sense for it to be in the drums.

@lynnie61  we are getting the same weather. I am not looking forward to the drive in the morning.  Ice is impossible to drive in, I told my boss I will come in later if there is ice.  You be safe.

Enjoy your night everyone!

Re: What's cooking this January?

I’m tired tonight Today I made huge pots of Brunswick stew and vegetable beef soup
I sent large bowls of each home with our kids for their supper tonight
Everyone should have leftovers for another meal , we do
We also had grilled cheese sandwiches to go along with the stew and soup
For dessert I made cinnamon sugar coffee cake muffins

resort gal I didn’t know about the drums but every time I’m at our local McDonalds someone is cleaning the dispensers , its almost like they have a worker who’s job it is to clean the drink dispensers

Hopefully everyone expecting the ice storms stay safe and warm
