Soushi, sometimes snacks are great meals. I need to stop it however as I have really eased up on cooking since Tessa is not here and I do not think it is smart. I have always cooked dinners and now find myself cheating a lot - I must get back to each night fixing a healthy meal. I just have to learn how to cook less - always has been a problem for me. Have always cooked for an army even before Tessa. Did not do much cooking during the week when I worked as I ate my big meal at lunch but the weekends everyone knew to stop by Grandma's - kids and friends and relatives - plenty of food. My parents always enjoyed the weekends as most weekends they would come over or I would take food to their house - worked great. Sigh.
The two experiments for the washer were dismal failures. That stupid downey ball did not work - succeeded in horribly staining my towels however. Grrr. Also it - I think - released the softener during the wash as the clothes are stiff as boards. Would have rewashed them except for our water shortage here so am trying to help. Those jeans will literally stand up by themselves. Sure glad, however, I hang them up to dry with creases so at least they are creased. LOL. Also the fabric softener goes back in the built in cup - what a pain. Will just have to make sure the dispenser holes are not clogged after each wash. Sigh. Decided to also write Maytag about my complaints. Oh, and washing those clothes on delicate also did not work - they did not get clean. Did rewash them on the regular wash and they cleaned up beautifully. Another Sigh.
Now since I am trying to eat better - will definitely fix some collards with perhaps a pork roast and another veggie of some sort. Must stay with this mindset every evening except only occasionally. I can't believe I actually got in this rut as I have always - and I mean always - eaten very well and very healthy. Did buy a watermelon so will probably have some of that for lunch - that will work.
Have a great day everyone. Soushi I got an email from a friend who was taken to the Keys for a BD gift. She said it was not real warm there either but nevertheless she was happy. She is due back tomorrow - a "boyfriend" treated her. I am happy for her and hope things work out. She is a widow - has been for some time - went up to more than 300 pounds and went to Curves and took over 100 pounds off. You just never know.

Afternoon, we are getting a good deal of snow AGAIN, oh well it's January in Chicago, made Philly Beef steak w/ground beef last nite, have enough for tonite as well, easy & quick also good.
Winifred hope the "quirks" of your washing machine become easier to deal with, just keep at it. Lucky girlfriend of yours to have such a generous boyfriend, send him my way lol. How's Stripes doing?
Soushi I also re-do my hair after a salon visit, don't know why I bother, I usually just go for a trim when I can't take it any further, but the styling just never suits me, maybe too set in my ways, mostly I tell him/her to blow dry slightly so I can be on my way.
JLF Hope your cough gets better, a lot have it here seems to drag on forever. Way to go with your crown so you could enjoy the show.
Enjoy the evening ladies, hope to "see" you soon
Take Care

Thought I would briefly stop by and tell you all I lied about my cooking plans. Got a panic call from Tessa's Mom, they needed some food - GRRRR - so headed up there and thought as long as I was there we would all grab a bite to eat - had a delicious pepper steak sandwich - it was so yummy. Then had to stop at Walgreens to get some lotion for them and Davey acted up and stomped off headed for his Dad's house - can you believe that? Went to where his Dad lived and they told me he was not there - am sure he was - (when I say he I am talking about the Dad, Davey had not time to get there yet, saw him when I left) anyway, told them to tell his Dad to send him hiking back home as he misbehaved horribly ALL because I would not buy him a battery pack or something like that for his controller for his XBox. He was nasty to his Mom, Tessa and me - I do not tolerate that kind of behavior any too well. Told him I had no $$ for that PLUS he was not doing his school work so that was that. Was not in a happy mood when I came home. Decided I will have my watermelon for dinner. LOL.
Now Stripes has been such a good boy for about two weeks - I hope it continues as I went outside about a half hour ago, he looked at me and started running. He has not done this in quite a spell so am hoping he will head back home. Keep your fingers crossed.
Hot weather continues but a couple degrees cooler than the past few days. Sure wish we had some rain!!!!
Need to check on STripes, hopefully he is outside waiting for me to come out - that is what he has been doing. Have a great evening everyone and also a great tomorrow. Need to get my watermelon also.
Quick note - Stripes started to play hard to get but gave up, lay down and started rolling over - course it took me to follow him across the front yard and half way down the side - but he is IN. Goodnight everyone.

Happy Sunday, Friends.
Well, I was able to get a replacement medication for the Lisinopril. When the medical assistant was taking my vitals she told me that it takes time for the coughing to subside because the meds have to leave my system. It's still annoying, but at least I'm on the right track. The new stuff (Norvasc) has a possible side effect of swelling in the legs and feet. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that won't happen.
Last night, it was just DH and I for dinner. I tried a new recipe for chicken tenders, made in the skillet, with mushrooms with a light garlic & white wine sauce. It was a healthy/lowfat recipe - supposed to only be around 200 calories per serving. Well, it made 4 servings, but we split it between us.....LOL. It was very tasty and I'll be making it again. I also made some oven-roasted asparagus to go with it.
I watched that Flowers in the Attic movie last night and didn't like it a bit. I really should have just turned it off.
My sister and BIL have been in the general vicinity for the last few days. They'll be on their way back home this afternoon, but DH and I will meet them for a late lunch at Abuelo's. That means no dinner here. Maybe I'll make some popcorn later on while we're watching the football game.
Have a great Sunday ladies!

Came home from church and fried me a piece of ham - haven't had fried ham in perhaps a year - mashed taters and baby lima beans. Also munched on some grape tomatoes. It was yummy. Will have a ham sandwich and watermelon for dinner - don't need much with that lunch. Speaking of church there are 5 to 6 of us that sit together in the very back pew - must be a message in that. This morning there was only two of us - everyone else is sick. Not happy to hear that but we still behaved ourselves.
Another warm day but not at all hot - was hoping something would happen as the sky was filled with clouds full of water but unfortunately the water never came down. Sigh!!
Hope all had a good day and JeanLouiseFinch, glad to read you got some sub meds!

Morning,
On my second cup of coffee already. Bought some coffee mugs at Dollar Tree for the condo and really like them. They are sturdy and they have a lip on them which I like. Little things mean a lot.
Dinner was the Costco's ribs reheated, mac/cheese leftovers for DH. I had green beans with butter, garlic powder, onion powder with my ribs. Plus I had a piece of Key Lime pie. Not on my diet but I enjoyed it.
The fog is rolling in this morning. But it is suppose to be 70. I'm meeting a long time friend who is here for a week. She is checking on her parent's condo and drove down with a girlfriend from Indiana. Will be fun to meet down here for dinner.
I think we have a problem with the TV here. It kept blanking out last night. But the TV in the bedroom was fine. Oh, I do not like to report problems to the home owner. Don't want to appear to be a complainer.
Do hope everyone is doing well, and happy, happy, happy.

Morning,
Love the morning greeting, so pretty! Thank you.
Not much real cooking here, breakfast yesterday was sausage gravy for DH, over buttered toast. I had 2 sausage patties, 2 eggs scrambled. Lunch was slim. Hot dogs for DH, cottage cheese for me. I meet dear friend from Indiana for early dinner. I had peel and eat shrimp, big toss salad. Brought back a huge fish sandwich and potato salad for DH.
Okay, don't yell at me, but I went to the pool yesterday. It was sunny and warm, 70. But will be cooler today and the next few days. School had a 2 hour delay at home with high winds and drifting snow. More snow coming later in the afternoon.
Meeting another couple from Indiana for lunch today. They like to go to Duffy's which is a buffet. That is okay, I can pick and choose.
Spix, you try to stay warm. Looks cold on the TV in Chicago.

Soushi, you enjoy that pool - we have had pool weather for some days out West now - would much rather have some rain. I like eating at buffets - providing it is a good one, some are not - you can indeed pick and choose what to eat. I am fascinated that on TV I occasionally see advertisements for Golden Corral. I have NEVER seen one anywhere near me but when I visited Jody a few times we often ate at one and I really enjoyed it. Jody lives in NC - find that interesting. I know the first time I saw the advertisement on TV I tried to find one - nothing near me. We do have a Hometown Buffet in San Bernardino. It is pretty good - use to be awesome but the prices have gone sky high AND I feel the food quality has taken a dive. Don't go there much any more as also costs a fortune for 4 people.
Hope all have a good day!!!!
