Re: What's a substitue for sour cream?

Yay ! can't taste the sour cream you all were right ! Cake batter tastes delicious, I licked the beater and the bowl (with a spoon) LOL Makes a BIG cake make sure to use the big baking dish they recommend . Now, got to tackle the frosting.

That's gonna be one good tasting lemony cake !

I baked mine for an additional 5 min or so because I have a slow electric oven. Like gas better. Wanted it to brown to a golden shade on top and on the icing wanted it more yellow so added 5 drops of yellow food coloring, think I'll just ice half of it we may like the plain cake better then all that rich goop.

Tkins, that's a great chart, thanks for sharing.

I love chocolate cake w/buttermilk in it. Can't stand the taste of either buttermilk or sour cream on its own, but it just takes the sweet edge off the choc. cake.

You are welcome, always happy to help/share. I confess, I love both sour cream (Daisy Light Sour cream) and buttermilk (even though it is not the same as it used to be).

That is wonderful. Good luck with the frosting and be sure to post how the final cake ended up tasting.

Re: What's a substitue for sour cream?

Cake was delicious just ate a big ol' hunk, but, that icing don't know why I'm not crazy about it same thing I make all the time with powdered sugar and milk and vanilla and little butter.

Maybe it's just to too. It's fluffy and spreadable like it should be, but, guess it's to rich for me since I've lost wgt. Whipped up fluffy too . LIke it's real airy or something. Think I'll take half of it to church Sun. and let them eat it. LOL
