Re: What's Cooking this November - Thanksgiving Time

Timeshave changed on this thread. In the past Thanksgiving especially and other holidays a lot of people came on board to let everyone know what was done in their kitchen that day.

Our Thanksgiving dinner was really good - fresh green beans (so very good), turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy and delicious dressing. Have lots of turkey left over so there are turkey sandwiches in my future. Sounds soooo good!!!!

Hope one and all ate well. Stay warm everyone.

Re: What's Cooking this November - Thanksgiving Time

@Winifred ... We had turkey, dressing, ham, deviled eggs, corn, green beans, cranberry salad, potato salad, noodles, rolls, and sweet potato casserole. Desserts everywhere.  I never made it to that table.  LOL  I know there were fudge pies, cherry salad, chocolate cake, chesscake and brownies.  Not sure what else was over there. I forgot to take my applesause cake, but I'm sure it wasn't missed.

Enjoy your leftovers.  We are! Smiley Happy

Hi Preds - glad to see you had some deviled eggs - we did too - just forgot to mention them. To me deviled eggs are a BIG part of Thanksgiving dinner.

It is another very cold morning. Got excited again yesterday - saw a couple of Hummers - so wish the abundant number we use to have year round would return. So sad. Through the years so many of our critters have disappeared.

flbettyboop, so that means I know what is ahead for today? LOL.

Eat well everyone.

We had leftovers. Well what else would you have with all that good turkey, et al, we had to eat yesterday. Beautiful day out West. The Freeway traffic was a nightmare - Good Friday sales always do that PLUS this is still a holiday weekend and many could not get off until today.

Hope all had a great day.

Re: What's Cooking this November - Thanksgiving Time

Well, as usual, there is always at least one mishap on my Thanksgiving days.  I thought I would be a little fancy with my regular garlic mashed potatoes.  After they were prepared, I put them in an oval baking dish, made a design on top with a spork, and as I was attempting to open the toaster oven door, the dish flipped out of my hand and upside down on the floor, mashes everywhere, and my pups lapping it up, so after I put them in the laundry room, I began, with my bad back that day, to clean up the floor and cabinet.

I lifted the dish with a spatula, and fortunately, quite a bit had stayed in the dish, the potatoes never touching the floor as the rim of the dish kept them from doing that,.so remade the design, and got them into the oven under the broiler.

This year I happened to make the creamiest mashed potatoes, and the silkiest gravy, the only day of the year that I make gravy, so I felt good about that, Smiley Happy

I made cranberry sauce, and as one more side made sliced brussel sprouts sauteed with pancetta and onions in extra virgin olive oil with some butter, salt and pepper, yummy, and that was it.  Cooked a frozen pumpkin pie for DH, and whipped cream to top it.
