Re: What's Cooking this November - Thanksgiving Time

Hi all,

I am still struggling here. This all takes time. Good days and bad ones.

Here a favorite recipe. Always well received. Made it for friends and had to give out the recipes to two of them.

Pecan Bread pudding recipe 2 cups granulated sugar 5 large beaten eggs 2 cups milk 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract 3 cups cubed Italian bread, allow to stale overnight in a bowl 1 cup packed light brown sugar 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter, softened 1 cup chopped pecans Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 13 x 9 baking dish. Mix together granulated sugar, eggs, and milk in a bowl; add vanilla. Pour over cubed bread and let sit for 10 minutes. In another bowl, mix and crumble together brown sugar, butter, and pecans. Pour bread mixture into prepared pan. Sprinkle brown sugar mixture over the top and bake for 35 to 45 minutes, or until set. Remove from oven.

So good to see you @Soushi24, the pecan bread pudding sounds delicious, will save the recipe.

I know where you're coming from, just take it day by day & do things at your own pace.

We do miss you here but also understand, just know we think about you often.

Take Care

Re: What's Cooking this November - Thanksgiving Time

Fixed mashed potatoes and in the slow cooker had chicken breasts - boneless of course - fresh green beans and baby carrots. A very good meal.

Great to see you all coming back, was getting kind of lonesome. Soushi, will definitely try that recipe. It most definitely is one step at a time and even then sometimes we have to slow down to decide when and how we take that next step. Am proud of you!!!

It is freezing here tonight. Went to the Bryant Street Baptist church luncheon today for seniors. LOVE going there. The people are so delightful, kind, etc and I do not attend church there. The church provided turkey, gravy and dressing and then those attending brought other food. - VERY VERY good!!

Tomorrow, church and then at 3 p.m. going to the Thanksgiving potluck at the mobile home park Mary use to live in. They also furnish the turkey and we bring extra goodies to eat. Will definitely have eaten well this weekend. LOL.

Hope one and all had a great day - also hope tomorrow will be an especially great one also. Yes, am freezing my you know what off right now. Brrrr.

Little girl is fast asleep and the boy is headed that way. He sure had his ups and downs today. Feel so sorry for him but when he has those roller coaster rides my heart breaks as I know he is suffering but do not know how to fix it. Sure wish those experts - who were approved by the Court - will call me and get here. Have the paperwork on who will be coming to do an evaluation, etc but they sure move SLOW!!!!!

Adios!

Re: What's Cooking this November - Thanksgiving Time

wENT TO CHURCH, Then sat three hours in Urgent Care.My skin had cracked under or by one fingernail on my right hand. Usually can get these things taken care if ASAP, Not so this time. Got really infected and the pain was unreal - so that is shy I was in Urgent care. Will not go into detail on what the MD did to my painful finger but am hoping it will now get better - he also prescribed an antibiotic - say a prayer it works. Was up most of last night with pain - unreal.

Came home for an hour and then went and picked up Miss Mary and we went to the Thanksgiving potluck at her former mobile home park. THEN to Walgreen's to get my prescription after I took Mary home of course. Came home and collapsed and told anyone who was interested "there are still some frozen dinners in the big freezer.

Hope all are  ready for Thanksgiving, But before that still eat well!!!

Re: What's Cooking this November - Thanksgiving Time

Love your daily greeting for today Preds. That is a good one!!!

Probably will have pizza tonight - no reason to prepare a  big meal with tomorrow coming. At least that is the way I look at things. I remember well - with fondness - the eve before Thanksgiving and Christmas we always had either pizza or KFC at our home. Always looked forward to either one and my family continued eating at their home whenever we lived near them - which was steady from 1963 on. Lost Mother in 1994 and Dad in 2004 - those two provided so many great memories.

In a couple days temps will drop daytime down to the 50s. Do NOT like even thinking about it.
