Re: What's Cooking in September- already?

Mousiegirl, appreciated the info you passed along. So you had green tid bits on occasion huh? That was funny. My little one has done a lot better - my biggest problem is finding a sippy cup she can use without a nipple set in concrete. The ones now labeled soft are NOT soft. Guess the new thing is they mostly are pretty darn hard and she will NOT use them. I did find a small nipple on one sippy cup but the cup is a little bitty thing. The ones that have the spouts/nipples that are for her age are the very  hard ones. EVen Ricky will not use them. The little one went to sleep about an hour ago so she may sleep all night but if not will get her cleaned up and back in the bed. She is very very good about going to bed for the night - hope it keeps up.

At any rate warmed up the rest of the tri tip roast, fixed a lot of baby carrots and then smothered them in butter and tossed some potatoes in for baking - worked well. Now what for tomorrow - have no clue.

I am tired, Ricky is back home after spending three days with a friend - she ADORES him and took him to a water park. Was a bit worried as it did get quite cool last night and was cool and overcast until about noon. Did heat up to about 80 plus so he had some good time in the water. Already down to 60 - will be another cool one.

Hope all had a great day and that all ate well.

@Winifred  In my opinion, it would not hurt to let her have a bottle at night, but use a sippy cup during the day.  She is still a baby, and DD stayed on a bottle at night until about 2 1/2 or so.  I don't pay much attention to what a doctor says in such a case, as children are individuals.  A wise person once told me, "some get there sooner than others, but they all get there."  I find it to be very true.  When she is old enough to understand, you might try the bottle fairy on her. Smiley Happy Smiley Happy

Re: What's Cooking in September- already?

Actually that was what I was doing - re the bottle. She was using the sippy cup, using is a loose word there but she did use it a bit and at nighttime I just give her the bottle. Now the big thing is to get Shannon to STOP with the formula - she and I have locked horns over that - the little one has done very well with the milk - a rocky start - but have graduallyweaned her off. Shannon was here helping and I noticed the formula is about gone - which is fine and yesterday for example I put one small scoop in her bottle at night, with 1 ounce water and the rest milk - she was fine.

We celebrated the little one's BD today instead of the first. Were going to celebrate it with Tessa today but that became impossible - so sad - so we had hot dogs on the grill, potato salad, green peas for the little girl and strawberry parfait -  she liked that also. She did very well but forget the dogs and potato salad. I had the hot dogs cut up in itty bitty pieces - nope, And then she had her cake - wish I could figure how to get a picture on here - it was hilarious. Of course it was in her hair, all over her seat all over her and so she got stripped in the back yard and hauled in to a tub of water that was already prepared. My goodness she was having a good time with that cake.

Hope one and all had a great day.

Re: What's Cooking in September- already?

Thanks Preds - your daily contributions are much appreciated.

Fixed fried cabbage and cornbread - love that soul food and it just sounded good. Well deciding to fix it Sherry and Matt wanted Ricky to visit with them a while so I took him there - he LOVES going there. Such a popular young boy - well I understand it and at the same time it is good for him to be around others and enjoy some peace and quiet. His grandma took off - she was sitting in the carport waiting on me when I returned from taking Ricky. LOL. Have not seen her since. David was visiting friends but I cooked MY cabbage anyway. I ate more than my share then fed the little one. Mitzi came by and brought some food for the little one - thought that was so very nice. David came home and ate some cabbage - not much left. Tomorrow is school so we go right back into the routine - such as it is.

I think I will be "hitting the sack" as my Mother always said. She had sayings for everything. That means in case some of you may not know what it is, going to bed. Real simple.

Hope one and all had a great Labor Day.

[ Edited ]

Sunday, ribyeyes, romaine salad with home grown tomatoes and home made roquefort dressing, and garlic bread on Acme baguette.

Last night, barbeque chicken thighs, potato salad, made on Sunday, and home grown little gold tomatoes, so sweet and juicy.

Tonight, probably leftover steak in tacos with my guacamole.

Some critter, probably squirrel, as rats usually eat what they find, don't just take a bite,  took down three of the largest ribbed tomatoes.  They have most wonderful flavor, so I wasn't happy to see them on the ground with chew marks.
