Mousiegirl - I do not know what I would do without leftovers. Only problem I have ever had with those is Davey - he would get up in the nighttime and clean out the Fridge. I use to tell him to ASK as often I deliberately cooked enough for a minimum of two meals. He has been gone for several weeks staying with a friend in Bakersfield. Must kind of chuckle as now there is food left over in the Fridge that I have to toss. Go figure. But to me leftovers save a lot of money but this group here prefers just opening new things - forget the ones already cooked. Already gave Shannon a finger shaking today - told her we would eat this evening some more of what we ate last night and then in the freezer it will go. LOL.
Really sweaty hot - that is humidity for sure - again, did not get to 100.
Sadly we have a BIG FIRE going near I-5 - Stephenson Ranch - and it is threatening homes. Guarantee you some idiot started it. We are all under a Red Flag alert - super dry and hot with a little wind - enough to do some major damage. Say prayers for us.
Hope all have a great evening.

Morning All, I've been MIA, laptop was in for repairs & don't like using my tablet, just too small for my fingers
Last nite was steak on the grill, turned out very good, it was only me so I just had a salad as a go with
Tonite DD will be here so pasta on the menu, will also do some Italian Sausage on the grill
Weather is really heating up, hot/humid for quite a few days, so ComEd will be happy, not me! body just slows down no ambition to do anything, but need to get out in the yard to water the plants.
Take Care

Hi all,
Just can't seem to get my act together. Hard for me to get here, and my laptop is acting up. Very, very slow. Fan keeps running. Needs to go into the shop.
Make Texas Sheet cake for Saturday night with friends. Yesterday made chicken and noodles for neighbors. She has been in and out of the hospital. Gave some noodles to my daughter too.
Just had tuna salad on crackers for lunch. Pretty good for a hot summer day.

Last night, I used a new basting sauce for the grilled chicken, butter, vinegar, water, worcestershire, salt/pep. The chicken stayed moist and was very tasty. I cut two small slender eggplants and one small zucchini from the plants, along with four small potatoes, and sauteed them with garlic, salt/pep, made more than I thought those little veges could amount to.
After my Mother passed, I went through all of the recipes she had torn out of newspapers and magazines, and kept what interested me, one being a tomato aspic. I came across it a week ago, so because it had lemon jello in it, thought it might be similar to one I had tasted at a party decades ago, only that one was lighter, whereas mine was thicker and creamier, with horseradish in it, and I added minced celery, not enough through, but it was very good. I served it on a bed of chopped Iceberg lettuce with a dollop of mayo on top, very refreshinbg on a hot evening.
Tonight will be leftovers of a meal a few days ago.

Hard for me to believe that the last time I stopped by was Saturday - boy howdy, that is pretty dumb. Have no clue why. As usual Preds always love your daily greetings and Mousiegirl you also some up with some good ones.
Soushi, so very excited to see you stop by - you are a mainstay of this thread and I know time has been very difficult for you recently. Surely you found some great ideas from your Mother's clippings - my Mother did that also.
STill eating what I can find hanging out - am getting more and more stubborn about working my buns off each day in the kitchen when last several months I wind up tossing a lot of food. My tenants?? just want to keep opening things and digging in to new things - NOPE - cost way too much and I find it a sin to toss food. Too many people who are hungry in this world. So now if they decide what they ate one night is not for them the next night, then they can have popcorn and can you believe - Shannon is the worst offender in things like that. Today she opened THREE Pepsi's and has not finished any of them, dirty dishes here and there and I had another one of my hissy fits a while back. So dumb. NOPE, I did not buy the Pepsi's - she did and her $ is super tight. Would you not think because of that she would be more careful. No, that is just the way she is and has always been.
Had to stop in the middle of this to get the little one tucked in. She usually likes to hit the bedtime routine around 8 - sometimes it is 7 AND she sleeps all night long. She is soooooooooo good.
Cats and Conrad are ready to settle in and so am I. Ricky is up in the San Bernardino area with Auntie so it is quiet here in the house.
After all my speaking I DO plan to fix a dinner tomorrow night. I still have a little of the Pasta I fixed on Friday so will put it in the Freezer. Just enough for maybe 3 people later on - not that it would be enough if Davey were here. He is due back in a couple weeks - what little peace and quiet there has been will be long gone. Do hope he has matured a bit - sure would help.
Hope all had a great day.
