What's Cooking in July - already July???

[ Edited ]

Re: What's Cooking in July - already July???

Had a weird combo for dinner last night. Fried squash - which I usually have as a stand alone with cornbread, roast and onions cooked in the slow cooker and asparagus. Decided NO potatoes this go round. Worked well for me although Shannon baked a potato and I frowned at her since she has always eaten veggies. She now says she does not like squash or asparagus - First grand I have had who gets picky on my cooking. Well almost told her to go eat elsewhere. LOL.

Ricky had a late nap yesterday and he is doing that more and more and it makes it difficult to get him to bed before half the night is gone. LOL. Kids, they do go thru stages don't they?

Hope all had a good day yesterday and today will be the same.

Yesterday I made chicken souvlaki, tzatziki and we had cherries as a side.

Today I made hummus with sugar snap peas for dipping, falafel, horiatiki salad and watermelon.

Tomorrow I think we're going to eat some leftovers LOL

Monday it's pork pibil and a baked orzo and vegetable dish.

Mercy me, Jaxsmom, some of that food you cooked made me head to find out what it was. I am impressed - had never heard of the two Greek dishes - and by the way, they sure look delicious. Also nothing wrong in having leftovers - I do that a lot.

The Man upstairs was kind to us today - not as hot as what we have been having. Did not turn the living room AC on until about an hour ago and the one in my bedroom got going about an hour ahead of that. That is good news!!

Just the little one and myself here - Ricky is back at Aunt Sherry and Uncle Mat's to use their swimming pool and having acres to romp in. Have a hunch Matt's Harley will also get a workout as he can ride Ricky around - with a helmet of course - on his property - he has a lot of acres.

Hope one and all had a very good day.

Sorry I just realized that this may be a chat thread and not strictly a cooking thread. I didn't mean to invade your space. I hope everyone is having a nice holiday weekend.

Jaxsmom, you are exactly right - this is a chat thread. I was just so dumb I had never heard of those meals and this is great - I learned something. Please hurry back. We have a couple regular posters who have been dealing with personal things and so it has gotten a bit lonesome - do hope you will be back - with some more cooking ideas. Just great.
