Re: What's Cooking in August

Made the bar cookies and they were just okay. I was disappointed and won't make them again.

Betty, the signing in over and over and over is a royal pain. AT least on HSN you sign in and stay that way until you shut it down. Not here - You leave for a few minutes and you have to fill in your password and sign in again. How dumb!!!!

Re: What's Cooking in August

Oh my goodness - where on earth has everyone gone??? Sob!!!

Went to Curves early on and then at 8:30 took Tessa to Banning and one thing after another then took her Mother there and I SAT and waited. Then back home and took Davey to Urgent CAre to get those 099*&^&% stitches removed. Had taken him Friday and they said they needed to stay in longer. Geesh. Actually went this morning after Curves and before the second trip to Banning but had to leave as they were super slow. So we went and sat there for almost 3 hours - and this was Urgent Care. Have NEVER experienced that before. Then back home and took Tessa back to Banning for her followup classes and I SAT AGAIN. Finally got home at quarter to 6 and I am tired - tired of sitting and driving. My Fridge is full of leftovers but this picky bunch who really irritate   occasion do not want to eat any of it. Told them they were not getting the keys to my freezer and if they were really hungry they had best eat something from the Fridge. Forgot that the Fridge also has a Freezer and of course they robbed it of pizzas, etc. They are something else.

NO COOKING tonight - can you guess why? LOL I will go and warm up the lima beans and that delicious pasta and  enjoy it. Have a ton of the pasta left and it is sooooooooo good - I use an Alfreda Sauce with it - so good. NOPE, do not make the sauce myself - found some in jars one day. What can I say.

Am off to grab a bite to eat. Do a few small chores in my bedroom and get ready for tomorrow. Heat is coming.

Re: What's Cooking in August

Good Morning to all!

Beautiful weather this week. Will be in the 70's, low humidity, and little rain. I like this weather. Kids go back to school here today. Teacher were there yesterday.

Last night for dinner, we had fish, sliced tomatoes, and fresh green beans. Also some chopped onion as that is what DH likes on his green beans. I need to use a pork roast that I have thawed for dinner tonight.

Neighborhood is having a garage sale this weekend. Have a lot of things to get rid of BUT hate the idea of hauling them out and pricing. This is a busy week with several things going on so it won't be easy.

Hope all is well, enjoy the day.

Re: What's Cooking in August

Oh, how I hate this new board, let me count the ways...well better not...would take to long.

Will be using this recipe today for pork roast.

Pork Loin Roast

3 cloves garlic, minced

2# boneless pork loin roast

1 T. dried rosemary

1/4 C olive oil

salt/pepper to taste

1/2 C white wine

Preheat oven to 350

Crush garlic with rosemary, salt/pepper making a paste.

Pierce meat with a sharp knife in several places and press the garlic paste into the holes.

Rub meat with the remaining paste.

Place roast into the oven. Cook pork for about 2 hours. 160 degrees.

Remove roast and heat the wine in the pan, stir to loosen browned bits of food on the bottom. Serve the pan juices

Re: What's Cooking in August

For some reason I didn't get any posts from yesterday til today    Strange.  I must have missed something.  Why does Davey have stitches.     I hate sitting around waiting for appointment.  That's when my kindle comes out.  They always sit the chairs so you are forced to have eye contact with people or the TV

Re: What's Cooking in August

Davey stepped on a fish hook a couple weeks ago. Typical of him. LOL. Stitches are now out - thank goodness - he wanted to take them out himself. told him NO and NO!!!He was with his Dad and his Dad took him to the hospital in San Bernardino - St,.  Bernardine's - a great hospital. So I told him, now we shall see what you do next David. LOL. He is such a klutz! Love him anyway.

Getting hot = decided I would heat up what is in the Fridge since trash pick up is thursday - HATE losing good food.
