Going to make chicken pot pie crescent ring for dinner

Yesterday I made a huge pot past for dinner in the crockpot. I put the potatoes and carrots in at the same time as the roast and they kind of fell apart. Don't really grasp the way it works or what to put on the bottom !!

Today I am making Chicken Pot Pie in phyllo dough (have no crescent ) so I think it should turn out ok. Already pouched the breasts and now will make up the veggies and gravy....will throw together when I get home.

@Pooky1 yesterday came across a recipe for pasta and cannelloni beans in the NY Times e-mail. Going to make tomorrow. You cook the pasta right in the chicken broth.

Re: What's Cooking for October 2019?

good evening everyone. keybra when ria makes macaroni and cheese she cooks pasta in chicken broth and she makes the roux for the cheese sauce she uses some of the both pasta cooks in to make the cheese sauce. the recipe she uses came from a pasta cookbook i bought in christmas tree shop like over 20 years ago and what your going to make sounds good to. cool and cloudy down here and weather should be crappy all week.  yestauday anna made pasta, shrimp and green squash in a very light garden tomato sauce. and i cant remember what else. today ria made beef stew in the crock pot and i made fresh italian bread. a small market has boneless  chicken breast on sale this week for 99 cents this week.  you have to buy a 10 pound bag to get th sale price but its well worth the price. i may buy 2 bags. hope everyone has a great week. hope people dealing with fires are doing well.

Re: What's Cooking for October 2019?

That looks pretty good Pooky1. I haven't been doing a lot of cooking lately but am sure thinking about putting a big pot of stew on. LOVE home made stew - and you can just keep on heating it up until it is all gone.''

The winds are still horrible and the fires just keep starting. It is such a bad thing. Hopefully those strong winds will be gone for this year in a couple days - they have done more damage than I have ever seen. Very scary!

At least we have not yet had our power shut down as a prevention thing like so many places have - Sure hope it does not happen. We have had it shut down for "maintenance" but not yet shut down as an avoidance for potential fires. Hope it stays that way.

Stay safe tomorrow night!

Re: What's Cooking for October 2019?

OK everyone - where are you? Did everyone eat well yesterday. I did but was late getting enough food in me - super busy. For dinner I had two cheese and bean burritos. Very very good! And the house was super quiet also.

Very cold night but possibly will get to 808 today. I can handle that?

Hope all have a great day and eat well.

I am not usually much for cooking but am going to put a pot of white beans on in the crockpot with a ham hock for seasoning.  Then I plan on making some Krustseaz cornbread mix.  It is very cold here in Alabama.
