Re: What's Cooking for November 2017 - a turkey perhaps?

Always good interesting food here - love it. We had fried cabbage and cornbread tonight - It was really good. Nothing left at all. That is not DAvey's favorite as he prefers junk big time but he knows he cannot refuse it in my house. At least he gets pretty good dinners. Am not a junk food addict and that helps with him. LOL>

Very very chilly tonight - I guess Fall is here for sure and winter inching up on us. Three years ago we had 7 inches of snow in early November - in Sou Cal one never knows. I sure wish I had a heating blanket - use to but have no clue where it disappeared to. Geesh.

Hope one and all had a great day.

Re: What's Cooking for November 2017 - a turkey perhaps?

A neighbor made our day for last night's dinner. Rob, has lived on this street for quite some years now - he is manager of a auto repair place in Fontana. He, like a lot of us, however, has had some serious health issues this year. He is not allowed to work on vehicles any longer but is at work daily and does most of his work now at a desk - they are obviously super good to him. He is a great cook and loves doing that. He sent over a HUGE pot of home made spaghetti for dinner last night. Very very good. I think his biggest problem is beer - he has always had a severe problem with that but has cut back - wish he would just stop!!! His drinking has not impacted his behavior as he is a super person - just his health. So sad. But sure appreciated the food - enough left for a couple more meals. Now that means I have to start thinking about tonight's food don't I?

Cold this morning - for sure. Davey helped me get all the persimmons off the tree before the birds did - they were moving fast this year as most are still hard. Now I am having trouble finding someone who wants them - never had that problem before but those who use to bug me for them - LOL - are either not around any more or have stopped doing a lot of baking, etc. Sigh.

HOpe all have a great day.

@Winifred  Have you thought of making persimmon quick bread, freeze them for later.  I make pumpkin, nut, raisin bread in small pans and wrap them individually, then freeze in a large plastic bag, actually I get three bags as I triple the recipe, problem is, I can't stay away from them, lol.

Just not sure my energy level can hold up to persimmon bread and/or cookies - do like them both. Sure wish you all lived on my little street Pooky - real easy to get those persimmons. Just having a hard time realizing life goes on while some things do not. Sigh. Will NOT toss them however an I will not let those birds eat them - Love my feathered friends but no persimmons. Will look and see if there is a way to freeze them - amazing how many things do get frozen .

Am tired and need to hit the sack and get ready for my early morning jaunt to Beaumont. Hope all had a great day.

Hi Everyone---thinking of all of you.

@Winifred----I contacted QVC to ask if I could send you an electric blanket without them telling me who you are.....they said no.

If you can think of a way that I can do that and protect your privacy, please let me know. NOTHING would make me happier than to gift you.

Re: What's Cooking for November 2017 - a turkey perhaps?

good evening everyone. cold front just came thru and temps dropped way down and winds picked up. end of week temps will be in the 30a and 20s at night and chance of snow showers. way to soon for that.guy came today with parts to fix dishwasher and while he was fixing it 2 other parts fell apart. he said and this is what happens when everything is made out of plastic so now were waiting for whirlpool to approve these other parts before they can come back to fix it. tonight ria made red peppers  potatoes with fryed eggs fryed in same pan with potatoes.eggs go in alittle before potatos are cooked so just one pan.hope everyone has a great week. and danky good luck with the electric blanket. thats so nice of you.

Re: What's Cooking for November 2017 - a turkey perhaps?

My trucker girl is home until tomorrow, so her request was for burger and beans (browned hamburger and onions with pork and beans), cornbread, and salad.

I am 19 days post op from knee replacement, and just starting to venture into my kitchen for simple meals.

@RedTop  Now that sounds like an easy dinner I would like! I could skip the salad! Not sure my husband would like it..we had pulled pork bbq's & tater tots tonight!

@How is your knee feeling? Are you still having PT @ home?

Hoping the pain is just a nagging ache by now..I have just about decided to have my other knee replaced in the spring..it is starting to bother me some, probably due to the cooler weather..well, hang in there..hope all is well!
