What is the best way to clean the outside of hard anodized cookware?

Hi ladies, I have an older set of hard anodized cookware from QVC and the outside of the some of the pans is getting greasy and ****** on it that does not come off with regular hand washing.  This set is not dish washer safe.

Any tips or ideas how to remove the ******, in an easy way?

This is just an idea, as I have not tried it myself.  Oven cleaner is what came to mind.  I should think a light spray would remove the grease and *****.

Edited to add:  It should work on g - o - o - k, too.   Woman LOL

I use a few drops of dish detergent and a kitchen scrubby to remove this buildup, or make a paste of baking soda and white vinegar to get this off in the early stages. Once the buildup is beyond that stage, I put the pot or skillet upside down inside a trash bag and spray the outside with oven cleaner, close the bag tightly, let it sit in the garage for several hours, then wash as usual.

Even if my cookware says its not dishwasher safe I put it in the top shelf of my dishwasher and have never had a problem. And it comes out squeaky clean!

I have stainless, and hard anodized .  Both have a polished stainless exterior.  I use an SOS pad lightly, and it takes all the gunk off, and does not scratch it a bit!

Thanks for bringing this up, I have the same question. I am hoping to find a less strenuous method, don't want to spend an hour cleaning off each pot or pan.

Be prepared to lose the finish completely if putting in the dishwasher.  I notice one poster has had good results on the top rack.  Me?  I totally ruined one piece, but I had burned a skillet and was totally disgusted with it, so it was no great loss.  The finish turned into various splotchy shades of stripped aluminum.
