Re: What is Your Cereal of Choice?

  • I've been eating this 5-grain (oats, rye, triticale, barley, and flax) cereal for so many years--since it used to be Old Wessex. There's nothing else added. I do that, adding nuts, brown sugar, and half-and-half. Sometimes I reduce the water a little, and add frozen fruit. After years of making it stove top, I now do it the microwave exclusively.

FYi, there was a recent recall of this for          those with wheat allergies, which we don't have. Woodstock-Hot-Cereal-Non-GMO-Old-Wessex-5-Grain-18-5-oz-Pack-of-3_f9eed00a-8161-4fad-adbf-5d23381d0ac7.0d323b1b14045958db338291ede2f117.jpeg

Now, I see they got strawberry gonna go searching for them tomorrow.

@SharkE You never saw them possibly because they were at my house. One box left, hoping they return in summer.  I have hoarded and rationed what I have for an occasional treat, dessert or planned for snack.  Gave away one box.

I don't eat cereal--way too much sugar for me. I do like whole, chewy grains tho--oatmeal is good. But the kind you have to cook, not nuke in the microwave.

Another good one is Quaker Simply Granola

Oats, honey, raisins and almonds. Taste better then shredded wheat and stuff that is meant for horses.

Take 2 Fiber choice a day too.

Honey Nut Cheerios or Bob's Redmill Steel Cut Oats.

I've never liked regular rolled oats.  It has to be the steel cut oats.

Original Cheerios or plain oatmeal that's been cooked, not that instant packet stuff.

@CelticCrafter I like the thicker cut oatmeal and barely cook it.  I don't like it cooked all the way.  I don't like it to get soft and sticky.  Woman Very Happy
