I am just guessing but it looked like seasoned whipped butter.

Butter that has been softened, with herbs and usually garlic added in.   Then it's formed into a log and chilled, for slicing.

Didn't see what you are speaking about but if it was compound butter just know that is the easiest most delicious thing to eat and make--I made many flavors one year for Xmas ,as presents for my family member cooks---got some cute little mason type jars  and gave each one 3 or 4---the hardest thing about it is-- waiting for the butter to soften--even got a roll or 2 of the Amish butter that my grocery store sells--and grew/dried  my herbs that summer for it. And you can use it on everthing not just meat. Was fun!
