What are you most looking forward to cooking or baking this autumn?

I spent the first 40 years of my life in a four-seasons climate. I miss the autumn more than anything. As soon as the first crispness hit the air I'd start squirreling away pantry goods and cooking up a storm.

Even though we don't have that autumn weather here where I live, I still get excited about baking and cooking in the fall, more so than other times of year.

I made an apple pie for Labor Day and I look forward to making many more... in addition to pumpkin bread and oatmeal cookies, pot pies and stews.

What are you looking forward to cooking/baking this fall? This is for my Love..

Re: What are you most looking forward to cooking or baking this autumn?

I always love love love turkey, so that's one thing I look forward to, in the fall.

I've been loving the Betty Crocker pumpkin cake recipe that I got here last year or the year before. It's also a chance to use my bundt cake pan, which never used to get any use. The pumpkin cake is absolutely wonderful with vanilla bean ice cream.

The whole Thanksgiving thing I still look forward to doing, even though it takes me 3 days now and I am having a harder time with it each year. I don't make a zillion course meal like a lot of people seem to, but I have my own recipe for dressing (I don't stuff - gross!) that uses croutons I make out of sourdough bread. I make mashers, of course (hand-mashed), a veg, the turkey, and a dessert. That's more than enough for us. But I sure do have to gear up for all that! Smiley Happy

I'm making a peach crisp dessert tomorrow for a church luncheon on Sunday.

We bought apples today from an orchard some 20 miles away. I will be making a couple of apple crisp desserts soon just for us.

My favorite fruit is apple; DHs is peach.
