Re: What Rice is Your Favorite?

I read years ago that rice from California had the least amount of arsenic in it.  So I have faithfully bought organic California white rice or jasmine rice since.

When I make it, it's cauliflower rice.

@Sooner  I love all rices. I use carolina the most. I like jasmine too.

Wild rice is good, even though I know it's a grass.

My favorite are basmati and jasmine.  I like them equally.  Before I retired, when I brought my lunch to work, I frequently had the Minute Rice single serving cup that you stick in the microwave for only one minute.  Fast and convenient.  I would mix in vegetables and/or chicken, and sometimes soy sauce or butter that I kept in the work kitchen fridge.  Not the most gourmet way to eat rice, but I thought it tasted pretty good.  Comes in white, brown, basmati, jasmine and a quinoa mix.

I like Ben's  brown ready rice, 90 sec. and it is always just right.

I usually by the frozen brown and the frozen Jasmine from Trader Joes.  I also really like the yellow rice that comes in the golden yellow pouches.  I can't think of the brand but it has the safron and other spices.

I also really like the convenience of the microwaveable packets.  When I worked in the office, they were easy to keep in my desk for days I didn't bring & couldn't get away for lunch.

Is it Mahatma? @justashopper  I enjoy that rice mix. Or could it be the Carolina rice mixes? They're both in gold pouches. I especially like the Carolina  rice pilaf. Vigo Spanish rice...also gold.

I love Jasmine rice and even use it to make my rice and beans. It gives it a different and fragrant aroma and delicious flavor.
The Trader Joe's frozen risottos are delicious too. They have mushroom risotto and the asparagus risotto. 🤤

@KBEANS

I think it's the Vigo Spanish brand.  Yum o!  and I agree trader joes rosottos are great.  I love trader joes.

And beans and rice!

I order heirloom beans from this place in California.  The company is called Rancho Gordo.  Best beans!  Very unique beans.  Even if you don't order, he has a lot of advice and recipes on the website.  I have ordered a few of his cook books.  i highly recommend you check it out.

Sprouted brown basmati  or jasmine.  In my 20s I ate short grain brown rice which I bought at Erewhon.  Organic Lundberg has been a staple - USA produced...long history.
