What Is Your "Go-To" Cookbook for General Purposes?

Today I went looking for a particular roulade recipe amongst the 300 plus cook books I have, which got me thinking about which one I would consider my absolute favorite and go-to for numerous types of recipes not in my noggin or in my family cookbook.

The odds on winner was Craig Claiborne's "New York Times Cookbook." I have the first edition, with many food stains on it, when I was first learning to cook, then purchased an updated version about 10 years ago. Love it for its completeness and attention to regional cooking and the variety it offers by the esteemed Mr. Claiborne.

How about you?

My all time favorite cookbook(s) are from Gooseberry Patch- I have most all of them , and every recipe I've ever needed was in one of those books. I cook a lot in my crock pot, and GP has tons of good crock pot recipes. I have over 100 recipes books, but I always turn to these. Some of my other cookbooks haven't been opened in years!

Mine would have to be the Better Homes and Gardens red plaid cookbooks. I have three editions of these, as they have moved to more healthful methods over the years. Unfortunately I prefer the recipes from the older versions.

Oh,my! Someone mentioned Gooseberry Patch on a thread this weekend. I did some searching and now I'm in a quandary. I want the 101 slow cooker recipes, 101 casseroles, Gifts from the Kitchen and more! I don't know which to order first!

I can't order all of them (wish I could), so I was trying to decide. I think I've settled on the hardcover version of Big Book of Family Recipes. Do you have this one? Is there another favorite I should start with? Thank you.

My go to cookbook is the internet! I have a few cookbooks from many years ago but I have never used them.

I love reading cookbooks so I buy a few here and there, but like JB, my first resource these days is the Internet.

I usually go online; often find what I want on allrecipes.com

"Raw and Simple" and "Isa Does It" I'm mostly vegan, and I make a very high percentage of my meals from those cookbooks.
