I seem to use a lot of plastic containers for leftovers or just storage so always have one or two in my dishwasher. I have found that putting a terrycloth kitchen towel on top of the dishes in the top rack and leaving overnight sops up the moisture that doesn't get removed in the dry cycle. The dishwasher salesman told me that dishwashers were not made to have the water roll off plastics so I always just put them on a drainboard until they were dry. Using the towel works well for me. I don't know why it works, but it does.
**edited because I realized I typed "town" instead of "towel"--don't know what a kitchen town is ![]()

When making a bar cookie or brownies, line the casserole with aluminum foil with an extra 6-7 inches on each side, and grease it. When your item cools, just lift it up and get prefect cuts on a cutting board.

Saw/heard this tip on a cooking show. When you need softened cream cheese and you forgot to take it out of the fridge to soften just hit it a few times with a rolling pin and it will be softened. I have done that several times and it works.

@Carolina925 Welcome!❤ I am SO happy you posted this because that is an EXCELLENT way to drain excess water off the tops of coffee cups!!!😄 THe dishwasher does NOT dry it and when you go to remove them water falls down. That drives me nuts!🤪 I will DEFINITELY use this trick for those in the future!👍😊
THANK you SO much for caring to share this VERY useful tip today!🤗

I would wash the pan since I had handled it, plus sometimes the pan sides don't get fully covered and get spray on them.

@DrakesMomma wrote:If you can clean as you are cooking. Makes after meal clean up really quick. I've known my husband for 37 years. We have been married 34 years. I will never get him to understand this.
DH is the same way. Benn married 48 years. He wants me to clean the kitchen since he cooks dinner. He said he would take over cooking when he retired since he likes to cook. I told him I rather cook than do the dishes. I clean as I cook. I can clean my mess faster. He uses every plate, pot, pan etc than wants me to do the dishes. LOL!!! Not happening!!!

I have the little terra cotta disc in my brown sugar too.
One thing I just saw the other day was sifting flour. It's a pain in the rear if you ask me. It takes too long?
I saw a video where a guy put the flour in a strainer than hit the rim of strainer with his massage gun so the flour sifted in seconds? I'm going to try it next time I need to sift flour.
Cook corn on the cob in the microwave in the husk for 2 mins. Cut ends from corn, squeeze corn out. The husk, silk all come off. Butter & season.
You can also make it in the air fryer on 380° for 7-8 mins.
Reheat pizza in the air fryer.
We also reheat quick breads & muffins in the air fryer. We like the crispness.
DH uses one of Myron Mixon's brisket recipes where you smoke it unwrapped 2 hrs, wrap in foil 2 hrs, put in ice chest 2 hrs. It's so good. You don't have to wait all day.
DH does something similar with baby back ribs.
If you want really good baby back ribs you don't need a grill. Pull the membrane off back, sprinkle with salt, pepper, chili powder, double wrap tight in heavy duty tinfoil. Cook 2 hrs at 400°. Now you can pull foil back to add bbq sauce. You can either put them under the broiler a couple mins or put them on the grill. These always turn out so good. To tell you the truth my sister gave us the recipe. We thought they would be tougher than a boot.
We always have onions, celery, jalapeno peppers, bell peppers cut up in the freezer. Makes it easier when your trying to make dinner.
We always have grass fed hamburger patties, frozen shrimp in the freezer so if we forget to take something out of the freezer we have something to cook. We don't do fast food much. Maybe once per month if that.
